Ooh! Sounds like a nice retirement job :)

130 knots to do a drop with a 15t payload? You’ll need an awful lot of flap out for that, even in an SFP variant......

Odd sound in the sky over here a few months ago of a jetliner maneauvering, don't get many jets at the local Airport .

Was not fast enough too grab the camera though as a DC-10 dumped its load on a fire just over the river, Photos from the local paper.

I would like to see the big flying boat in action. Only a few videos from time to time.

Thinking about it, the probably bought the big Air Tanker in because of the close proximity to the 1000Ha Mulwala munitions / Propellant factory .

I’d like to see the 747 version on action. From memory, on some flight profiles to stay within limits, they had to lower the gear during drops. Low and slow (and unmaneuverable) in a Jumbo tackling that sort of turbulence doesn’t leave a lot of room for error!

Probably to avoid the config warning with landing flap selected.

Nevertheless, that would be an awesome sight :D

About Time someone put 2 and 2 together and came up with 4... I would imagine the fuel savings of the 737 would outweigh the overall cheaper running costs of a surplus 747 ... ?

Cynicism tells me there will be a Federal or State or CASA rule / application thereof which will add $$$ or stop it altogether - in Australia. [bigsad][bigsad][bigsad]
