Sharp increase in noise and resonance coming from front, especially felt in front passenger seat.
Louder when coasting.
Coast with trans and transfer box in neutral, no change.
Turn to left, noise gone. Turn right, still there but not as loud.
Can anyone confirm?
Anyone got a cheap second hand one for sale.... can collect Wollongong, South Coast, Sydney, Canberra.... assuming mine keeps going to get there and back[emoji854]

x2 wheel bearing, when turning weight lifted off that wheel noise decreases but not definitive.

If wheel bearing, thoughts on why noise is louder when coasting (ie off the gas)?
That’s what has me leaning toward diff.

Simple test that I done, If your disco has CDL, take off the front drive shaft and run it in rwd and see if it stops or still there
Thats what I done to determine that my front diff was the issue

For the D2's LR changed how the cross pin was locked into the housing, short of it all the pin can rotate in the housing, on mine one of the gears picked up on the pin and the spinning wore into the housing, because things weren't square anymore it started howling. When turning (lets say left) the speed differential did something to the gear pressure of that side and the howling would decrease noticeably, but on mine the howl was worse when turning the other way.
The howl would increase when I was coasting / cruising, but drop off a bit when under acceleration.

To the gentlemen who rightly called “wheelbearing!”
Damn it, you’re right.
Interesting about the diff pins, Dorian.
Cheers all.
