Ok all you Qlders,
It must be time for another get together, either weekend or day trip especially with quite a few new local members.
Prob along the lines of the Mt Mee trip but it's your choice.
I will lead it if you want just need some suggestions on times and places, and yes i know easter and such is closing in but maybe we can work around them.
It's all up to you

I haven't been on a trip with the AULRO's befroe but would be keen if the time suits. Lake Maroon is a nice spot. I have a mate with a Defender and a Rubber Duck so might see if he would be keen to do an overnighter. We quite often go on one or two night trips together (depending on how much we feel like drinking that weekend and how good the weather an 4wding is). Oh and by the way this is post 69 dude. Probably my only one for the year!

Hi Glen and weeds, take a look at GCLRO Club trip dates and if you work in with the dates I’m sure a few of us would be in for a trip with you.
I can assure them they will have a great trip going on the good time I had on your last two Mt Mee trips ( recce and main trip ).
I am certainly interested in a day trip with you lot again.

Labour Day trip for AULRO is a great idea, but would be very keen for a trip to Boonah/Maroon Dam.
If you want a Easter Weekend trip - the Noth Point of Bribie Island is a great spot but you need to get a spot early otherwise beach camping fill up pretty quick.
See link below for info on WW2 Army Ruins that you can explore:

See link below re beach camping on Bribie:

Aye, Mick
Mick,
This sounds great, will get it in this month's RRCQ mag. Love this place. Miles of tracks - of all standards and descriptions.
Also, camping spots galore - you can have so much space you won't even see other groups.
RE: Easter / other AULRO ideas - I would think it's almost 2 late for an Easter get together - a lot of the places mentioned (public) are heaving that time of year - crowds, once a year campers & 4wders, yobbos etc., become a royal pain in the ass.
Get on the Rover trip or we should do a day trip...Just my humble opinion

a day trip or weekend trip or a bit of both, just dependant on what available time each of us has
it would be around the 1 1/2hr drive for most on the northside, closer for you gold coast mob, gee i have never timed myself
we drive through one other property on the way in
the drive into ok corral is high range following a creek, there are a by-pass track at the end, for those that are keen they can go the old track i have never tried it
there are three main loops we do which are all low range with nothing real tough, in saying that i have bent a front steering rod. i have travelled every track except high knob in my 79 rangie with road tyres on
the cliffs track - nice low range climp to the top of some cliffs over looking lake maroon, there a negitave camber corner with some loose stone near the tops where open diffs my get some wheel slippin. great views from the top and there normally a wedge tail eagle cruising around, i was out there the other month and steve had his bull dozer out there so we cleared a big area on the top, before this there was only enough room for three cars, steve has been sneaking some fence posts out of this area and reackons we could make a new track to the top from the north eastern side
sunset hill - great sunsets over the ranges, to get back to ok corral we normally have to get out a couple of machetties to trim the lantarna back as we skirt around the side of the hill, the decent back to ok corral is where i ben t my steering arm (it was at night after a few beers watching the sunset)
high knob - only discovered this last year, there is a sand pit at the start which you can test your articulation, the main climb has a tough a little step at the end, i cruised up fully loaded with 16ft canoe and lockers, stews 100 series took 4 attempts using quite a bit of throttle as there no way he would let a landie help him out and simon 75 trayback needed a snatch. steve the owner has been using the bulldozer in the area, hopefully he has left this track alone although he does need to get around the property in his stock navara.
the main track to the dam has a washed out track that follows the fence line. for tose that are keen and want to battle the lantarna there plenty of staghorns orchids etc at the bottom of the cliff
i think there is between 1500 - 200 acres to play with, and for those that want some tough stuff there plenty of room to make your own tracks
hey this is only one suggestion, somebody mention labour day, is that the first may as rover park is on that weekend.
at his stage my weekends are free til the 18 may, if this venue day get picked i will go for the weekend so that we can cater for campers and day tripers
do i have to lead the trip, hey glen we can go for a quick tour one day if you or just follow me on the day/weekend if we go

Weeds,
April is prob out for me, but June should be OK, or perhaps early May as the Long W/End in May we are off to Moreton, so it just depends on work and other planned trips with BrisLROC.
Sort of why I was starting interest now so people have plenty of notice and we get a good roll up that will suit the majority.
But you dont have to do it when it suits me, after all it is designed to be for all the forum members so if you get a heap of people that are available earlier then go for it.

I'm getting hardcore off-road withdrawls
Rover is meant to be pretty hard core isn't it?? Never been but I hope there are some "proper" tracks there
Know what you mean Trav, I need a fix every now and then although you have been out for a while now, so I can only guess how you must feel 8O

Rover's a great mix - some real H.C.S. (hard core sh*t!) and lots of them, and scenic pussy bush drives. But its all good. There's awesome scenery too - mountain top views, wildlife and roos galore.
Plenty of opportunity to add to your ding tally

Been to Rover Park about 4 times and pretty done most of the tracks twice there. It's been almost 2 years since I went (June 04, I still had Aquarangie then https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ ) so I'm keen to go.
Now I have the MT/R's on baord (getting them fitted once K-Mart T&A get them in this week), all I need is a winch and it's all good

2/Landrover hill
3/Freelander loop
4/The rock challenge
5/The challenge
6/The slip
They are together on the salme hill side

Trav,
Rob & I are probably going to do the same. Been meaning to for a few months. We'll tee it up closer to the time, if you want to come with us, (if those GCLROians would have us along)!!

I got up them all with only rear diff lock (didn't have a front one then).
Baysiders trwist is a ripper too as well as some of the gully tracks with plenty of rock steps to negotiate.

oooookkkkk everybody stop thinking rover park as it on the labour day long weekend lets think aulro seq gathering
i'm happy to wait a couple of days to see if there are any other suggestions and by no means does it have to be locked into the weekend i suggested, that weekend suits me best and if we were to use my mates property than i have to be present
i have never graded a trip but the defined tracks are low range and require some wheel placement from time to time - however there is a mountain and plenty of hill for guys to make there own trackes and put there vehicles through there paces
drivesafe, apart from the outerlimits trip to landcruiser and the rrcq i think i have captured all the trips on page four, if glen or somebody would like to run a poll than some of the dates on page four will assist
help me out glen :? :?

Hi weeds, your going to be the trip leader so if thats the date YOU want, set it and everybody else can just work to it and around it.
Cheers

Ditto.
The private property you mentioned sounds good. So long as wherever we go doesn't REQUIRE diff locks coz I only have a centre one and no cross axle ones. Hey GCLRO why don;t you raflle a maxidrive setup... I;d buy a ticket in that.

no need for lockers, standard landies should not have any problems apart from high knob where some may need a little snatch to get over the little step at the top

Sounds great weeds, looking forward to the day, shall we lock in the 13-14 May now then? Also if I make the recce with you, I'll help with the trip leading or be your tail end charlie.....unless you have it covered already of course.
Let me know if you need any help at all, good work.

13-14 may sounds good so far. Spoke to my fender mate and he would come and bring his rubber duck for a bit of a fish and play on the water aswell.
