Hi Cam,
welcome to the forum. Good to see a photo of that size tyre fitting in the spare hole. Any issues closing the cover down? That is likely to be my next size, hopefully still a year or 2 away. I think it will make the speedo slightly more accurate too.

i've got the Nitoto Terra Grappler G2 on my jeep and unless you are doing fairly frequent off roading, the noise is just too much to bear. The noise is not bad when they are new but once they get about 30K in they start sounding pretty bad. Having said that they are awesome in the snow/dirt and light mud. I havent been into proper thick mud with them so cant comment on it.

It fits perfectly, and no issues closing the cover at all. The lining in the space is loose and the physical space is actually quite roomy. I know fitting the spare was a question for me which is why I took a photo for you!
Couple more photos on the sport now... more to come over the weekend and next week as we go camping and off road.
This is the LT version of the Ridge Grappler LT275/55R20 and 32.13 (817 mm) versus 31.89 (810mm) for the non-LT version. There is probably 10mm clearance on the front wheel when turning, so this is as big a tyre I would put on my sport without having to cut/mod the mudguard linings.
I'll let you know what happens with the Speedo.

2015 RRS L494 HSE SDV6
Why the sensor rods? RRS can do 80kph in offroad height. Wheels and tyres look great but is the offset legal in Victoria? You should not have any rubbing problems, I had same size Pirelli ATRs on OEM rims on my Sport for a while. However as the tyres poke out a little more you will get stone chips on the plastic sills. If you have colour coded sills won't be good even if you have mudflaps. I have just ordered SDV8 HSE but can't get plain black plastic sills. They are painted black. Bit disappointed as they will be peppered on on my dirt road. Will ask dealer to swap with others off a lower specced car.
Enjoy your RRS, they are great cars off and on road.

Hi All,
Since I got my RRS in May '15 I have been trying to sort out the best off road tyres to put on. As you probably all know the RRS SDV8 Dynamic has the big brake callipers and 18" rims are definitely not doable, in fact 20' rims are the smallest so the Compmotive 18's are not an option. (I purchased with 22"s, standard is 21"s).
I recently went to the Sydney 4WD show and questioned every wheel vendor there. I had 2 positive responses,
ROH wheels and Fuel Wheels. Both said that they had wheels designed for the VW Amarok that could work for the RRS.
ROH had only one style and Fuel had 3 styles. The "Sledge" style from Fuel was the one I liked the best. The rims still did need a little machining / customisation to make them fit onto the RRS axle but Fuel advised they had done it before and it was fine. Fuel directed me to Ali at Northern Beaches Wheels & Tyres in Brookvale. Ali was excellent so I totally recommend calling them if your after the same thing.
On the Fuel rims I put 275/55R20 Nitto Terra Grappler G2 AT's. I think they look great. The total diameter is 31.9"s. If you check GOE's website Gordon says you need the lifted hight sensor rods to fit 31.9" tyres so I was nervous about it but Ali assured me he had done it before and the was no rubbing at all. It's worth noting that the old wheels had a total diameter of 30.4"s so the new wheels also give me 0.65" lift. He was correct, the tyres don't rub anywhere and the spare still fits in boot like it should. They may possibly rub at extreme articulation but I do have the HS rods to give me that extra lift if I'm doing more extreme offroad stuff. Most of what I do now is beach driving to surf and fish so I can 100% confirm I've had no issues with rubbing and you don't need the extra lift.
What I love is that with the new tyres I get 6"s of side wall which is way better that the old wheels that only had 4"s and makes me feel way more comfortable when airing down on the beach. I've found 18psi is perfect for softer NSW beaches like Stockton, Point Plomer, Port Macquarie, Hat Head, Treachery etc etc. The new tyres are a little noisier than the old ones but not annoyingly so, in fact I've driven up to hat head twice on them without any music there and back. The noise is very slight and I had no trouble taking with my wife for the whole trip (lucky me hey^$^%). One more point, the RRS is noticeably softer and higher to ride with the new wheels, very nice indeed.
All up the cost was $4300 for six wheels and tyres including the custom machining on the rims...not bad considering Land Rover wanted $1180 per rim for the OEM 20's! I opted for the extra spare as I'm planning a trip to the Kimberly next year.
I hope this helps others that have had the same challenge / worry as I have. You can do what you need on the 22's with the standard 35R tyres but I was always super worried about rolling a bead or puncturing a sidewall as I'd have to air down to 16psi to prevent wheel spin on the really soft stuff. Now I have a little more margin for error!

For Wheels You can use the L322 Mags as the load rating is above the standard 22 inch wheels. Off Set is 4 mm different which in my case using the Cooper146562146563 H/T @285 width required a small shim to avoid slight rubbing noise.

Just swapped my 22 inch wheels back on. Also fitted front and rear mud flaps , only took me two and a half years . Inside edge of Coopers was worn smooth after 75,000 k's. Not sure why the sudden wear hope it isn't something worn almost like too much camber.

Hi all,
Just wanted to check, what is the smallest rim size that will fit over the Brembos on a 2014 RRS V8SC Autobiography? Looking to setup with some ATs but wondering how small a rim / big a profile I can get downsizing from the 22s.
Cheers,

Hi All,
I'm in the exact same boat, I have a MY14 SDV8 RRS HSE Dynamic with 22" alloys fitted with Conti Cross Contact LX Sports.....looking to move down to 20" alloys to increase my choice of tyres, possible improve handling, ride etc..
How do the Nitto's go day to day for general town & highway driving?
I'm only a 5-10% off road enthusiast so I need a good hybrid/all terrain tyre that gives me the option to get down to 20-18 psi (sandy beaches) & better than average side wall protection from when I'm up in the Flinders Ranges. My concern with the Nitto's is their aggressive tread pattern & road noise?
Cheers all

Is anyone running Mickeys on their RRS? I had the ATZ P3 on my Defender 110, they were unreal on a lap of the island 2 years ago. 43,000 with 19k off road and still in fairly good shape.
Am keen to run something along the lines of 275/55 R20 in the ATZ - wonder what clearance will be like?

Hi folks,
I'm new to this forum and have a 2017.5 RRS, SE SDV6 currently fitted with OEM 20 inch rims and Pirelli road tyres 255/55/R20.
I found advice regarding off-road tyres to be very thin on the ground, particularly from the dealer.
In actual testing, I can only fit 20inch or bigger to the vehicle, any smaller rims simply don't fit over the brake calipers.
I'd very much appreciate people's experience, particularly as the 275/55R20s are 2.9% taller, and have a diameter of 810mm versus 787 (my current tyre).
I'm looking at the Grabber AT3 and or the Goodyear Wrangler, but want something for about 50% off-road that remain reasonably quiet and have a decent sidewall for airing down.
Many thanks

Do you have anything to assist with returning it back upright? I can see it would be pretty heavy to stand up and re-latch and i would think it would get tiresome doing it multiple times per day.

We left Ceduna late morning on a leisurely drive, spent a while at the lake including going around to the north then camped some distance on the track north. We arrived at Kingoonya early afternoon after detouring via Mt Finke. However the sand was damp so no difficulty whatsoever on the sand ridges.
Travelling west from where the track exits at the railway line is not permitted. We had returned to Ceduna after Maralinga to then travel Googs from the south.
Edit: Paint protection was quite beneficial on Googs.

Regarding the Tyre Trek tyre carrier. I tried to purchase one (even paid my deposit) for the RRS but it does not fit and Tyre Trek were unwilling to modify the design to make it fit, they would have to do some re-engineering. The problem is the RRS hitch is "recessed" under the rear bumper. Adding a 200mm extension would solve the problem but TT are not willing to do the re-engineering.

I'm tossing up whether to build a carrier or ...If I was to build another it would not bolt to the tow-bar tongue, instead have its own solid shaft into the receiver even if it meant having a 2nd shaft mounted above the 1st to avoid the carrier from being too low. A side support to prevent sideways rocking such as I had bolted to the L322's tow hook relieves the receiver of that task.

I wouldn't bolt to the tongue, definitely needs to go into the receiver. The HR towbar I have extends out further than the LR one so I think a Tyre Trek would work for me.

I had to brace the tongue to stop it flexing then the carrier needed to be clamped as well as bolted through the tow-ball hole. I'll keep using it on the L322 now that it's sorted.

Hi there, hoping to get some help - or affirmation :-)
Picked up a set of used 19" rims from a '14 RRS with the thought of putting off road tyres on them. I have 21s at the moment.
Am thinking of going with the 255/55/19 Wrangler Duratrac. They look to be a very similar size so wont rub or change speedo (very much).
Any thought on going in this direction?

As in my earlier post. I fitted 275/55R20 Falkens. No rubbing and the larger tyre helps correct the speedo, now only 2% low instead of 6%. Off-road you need to get as much sidewall as you can. I have had a great run out of the Falkens, previously had Goodyear Duratracs and MTR's on my Discos. Just finished another 5.5k in outback Queensland, with a couple of thousand kms on dirt and mud.

Hi Desert Traveller, I would also appreciate a little more of a review when you get the chance.... how many Km have you done on them? How do you find their adhesion in the wet now compared with when you bought them?
thanks in advance.

I have 20K kms on my Falkens now and they still grip better than any AT tyre I've tried previously. I had a passenger who drives a 200 series shod with BFG KO2s the other day and he was very impressed at the speed I was turning in at on wet corners and roundabouts. He expressed the opinion that the KO2s at those speeds would have resulted in leaving the road and is considering replacing them with Falkens now.
Road noise has increased a little over that distance but it is still very acceptable and only noticed by me (SWMBO doesn't notice at all) when the stereo is off.

I concur. I have done about 12,000kms. Outback South Australia, the Simpson and outback Queensland. About 5,000kms of gravel. Noise has not been an issue. I run 21 inch HT's generally when I'm in Brisbane.

Hi Geedublya and Desert Traveller, did you notice any change in ride comfort with those slightly larger tyres?
thanks in advance

Not really, tyre pressures have more effect on the ride. The RRS ride is so soft and the steering vague compared to my other cars.

These are the Ridge Grapplers on my L405 - so far so good. 275/55/20 LT120Q $1950 for 5 tyres.

Some research that I have done on rim sizes and offsets:
Original rims and tyres in 22" are 275/40-22 on 9.5 rims with +49 Offset (on my RRS)
20" wheels were 255/55-20 on 8.5"rims with +47 offset
This thread here (https://www.rangerovers.net/threads/wheel-offset.342914/) shows that 9.5 x 20 with a +53 offset won't fit on the front.
This site (https://www.wheel-size.com/size/land-rover/range-rover-sport/2014/#trim-50sc-eudm-503) has some useful info on the original fitment wheels and tyres.
It seems some L405s may have had a 9.5x20 rim with a +49 offset that might be an option but they may be thin on the ground.
As others have found a 275/55-20 running on the +47 8.5" rims would seem to be a good compromise. I've also discovered that 285/35-22 was never an option and that explains why my speedo is over 10Km/h fast.

For off-road use the 8.5" would protect the sidewalls and rims better than 9.5". The 2 different 275/55R20 that I've used on my L322's standard 8.5" rims sit well.

Cam.
I'm ready to buy 265/60R20s which are 826 vs 817mm for yours. Do you think this might rub somewhere in the arches ?
Nice pictures of your tires/rims by the way.

The wheel carrier is my own design. It is tow bar mounted and it drops down when rear access is required.
Hi Desert Traveller, highly impressed and interested in your wheel carrier. Nice job !
Questions :
- what happens if you open the tailgate while wheel is not dropped down ?
- on your picture, the structure of your wheel carrier seems to be higher that the lower edge of the tailgate. How do you open your tailgate or is the opening condamned ?
- how did the carrier resist multi vibrations during your overlanding ?
Thanks mate !

Comments appreciated.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I thought I'd put it out there that Goodyear are now doing the Wrangler Duratrac in 255/65R19 giving you a 32" tyre with 6.5" of sidewall - this is the tyre size that the L663 Deefer runs.
I'm currently running some 285/50R20's but when these are done I will go back to 19" wheels and these Duratracs.

the common held belief is 19's wont go over the brakes.

There are definitely some RRS out there with 19"rims but unless you have a six cylinder its unlikely the rims will fit Land Rover Range Rover Sport 2014 - Wheel & Tire Sizes, PCD, Offset and Rims specs - Wheel-Size.com (https://www.wheel-size.com/size/land-rover/range-rover-sport/2014/#trim-30td-eudm-245)

18's won't go over my brakes but I have a full set of factory 19's that are a perfect fit.
