Spotted what i think is a good deal today so purchased a generator.
Suggested price is a load of bull where it says "was $1199" I think thats a bit rich.
But i have watched this unit for a while and its been around 550 bux.

Wow big pic lol.
$423 bux for 3.2 rated seems a not bad deal to me.
Just hope the unit actually produces that as my power hungry family love to gobble up the watts while camping.
And yes im expecting it to be loud. That does not bother me as i camp quite remotely most times.
As for the EFI bit... well thats just horse**** too. But still a good buy i hope......

So when is EFI not EFI? 3.2 should cater for virtually all caravan a/c off grid. Does it mention Db?

Specs for it show 58DBa @ 7 meters, so fairly quite like most of these are. Stick it behind a tree or something and you'd barely notice it, although I'm not a generator man myself when it comes to camping, I detest the bloody things...

I have got a simmilar no name brand genny ,it's blue as well and looks pretty simmilar to yours and i have had it now for nearly 3 years with plenty of use.
I haven't had any dramas with it and on economy mode is is very economical as well, It is also pretty quiet as well.
No I don't think that is is as good as anexpensive Honda jobbie But then again it only cost a fraction of the cost of a Hoda unit and it does the same job.
I have been away from home now for a month and since i upgraded my solar resources i havent needed the genset at all so far, It is however comforting to have it stashed in the back of the 79 series just in case though[thumbsupbig]

Pretty sure i replied to this thread from my email and it did not save. Will notify staff of this. Sorry if a duplicate post comes up.
A quote from an ebay purchaser.
"Advertised as having fuel injection. Not so! Still an old fashioned carby. What looks like a fuel injector is just a solenoid valve to enrich the start mixture for a few seconds. Proof: Disconnect the "injector' plug: Keeps working normally. Will even start if you use the choke on the carby, accessible after removing the cover plate."
I take this on its merit. Someone has taken the time to check if its infact an efi.

Unit arrived yesterday.
First observation was this bad boy is heavy! 33kg i think.
Second observation was its big! Not a small unit at all.
Gave it some oil and some go juice.
Primed and gave it a pull.
Sure enough she started after about 5 pulls.
Quiet!!! Very quiet. Me and wifey were shocked at just how quiet this thing was while not under load.
So load it up time. 1 x 2500watt electric fan heater and 1 x 1000watt oil heater.
Noise increased quite a bit at this point which can be expected. Damn think did go off on overload after a while which does not surprise me as the electric fan is a piece of crap and keeps popping the circuit breakers at home.
I should not have pushed it so far i guess but i really wanted to see if the rated claims were true. Given it ran those 2 units tells me the ratings are pretty good.
I have no intention of ever pushing it like that again. But good to know in an emergency i could throw 3000 watts at it and be confident it will supply.

The weight is a bit of a trade off on the cheaper units - there are 4KVA inverters that tip the scales at 23Kg but these are between $1800 and $2000 for the high end units. Looks like a good unit for the price.

Shark Tank had a guy seeking investment in this series...claimed his to be the lightest and smallest 4KVA on the market. From memory it was 1800$

Yeah, he's been selling them for a few years now - very good but if kit. I would probably buy one if I was in the market over say a Honda unit. It has more features and is lighter. Hyundai engines as well, so not the cheap Chinese clones most have these days.

I tried to light up the welder, powered by the gennie.
70 amps (arc welding) and i only got a few seconds before it was not happy.
Im not sure of the amount of draw from the welder but it was obviously more than my gennie was willing to give it.
Never intended to use it for this purpose but it did get me curious so i tried.

Generally an 8KVA is required for reliable welding - there are substantial transient loads when welding which smaller gensets don't generally like. It also gives the electronics in the inverter a hard time, so wouldn't try it again if I were you.

Yea agree totally. It was not the smartest thing to do but curiosity got the better of me. Thankfully the unit does still work. The overload system seems to be working.

I bought a small inverter welder from Bunnings that i take away with me on trips "Just in Case" and i find that if i use 1.6 rods the 3.5 Honda genset runs the welder with ease[thumbsupbig]

I had one of those $99 Chinese generators which I used to power lights and the camping fridge. It gave sterling service for nearly 8 years until the bearing on the engine side of the alternator died. At that time Aldi were selling a four stroke set for not a lot, about $200 comes to mind. This has also given trouble free service for nearly 7 years. A bit of a lift over the side of the trailer though. Quite heavy. Both units ran on the literary smell of an oily rag.
I gave the Chinaman to a mate who had acquired an identical unit at a garage sale. It wouldn't start so he made one out of the two. Still chuffing along.
