View Full Version : Boot Storage Under Floor

Hi All,
Under the boot floor there is a small storage area with a polystyrene mould which is designed to fit certain items.
I am trying to work out what should be in here. I have figured that the towball and tongue is one item.
What else do you have stored here? I am trying to see if I am possibly missing something from mine.
Also, any idea what the round grommet with a cross pattern on the top is used for?
Pics would be good.
Many Thanks

Where’s the spare? [emoji6]
Should explain the grommet at least!

Thanks Tombie you directed me to the right place. There is in fact a grommet under another grommet. So the second one was floating loose in the boot and not obvious given there was already another grommet in place. Double grommets......Makes sense now [smilebigeye] I have re-installed in its rightful place as per pics.
So now just to solve the puzzle of what goes in the other slots. I have circled them in red. Does anyone have any parts located here?

The tow tongue and locking hitch pin fit in there. The locking part of the pin fits above the tow ball but only when the the rubber cap is off:

Not sure what the other sections are but possibly the mould is used for the UK detachable tow bar as well.
The spare wheel is under the car as with the D4 so the round grommet gives access to the winch to lower the spare.

Thanks Ron,
Looks like I'm missing the Locking Hitch Pin. Thanks for your reply and pics. It is a great help. [thumbsupbig]
