Hi everyone, new to the forum only just joined. Currently looking at a Disco 2 for sale and while looking underneath found some black sludge with a green tinge to it. It has 200,000ks and full service history. It's in very good condition and is going for $8000 and is the sludge worrying?
I'll try posting some pics of it

Could be PAS/ACE fluid. (power steering/hydraulic fluid for the anti roll bar control, if fitted)
The original Texaco/Caltex fluid is green, as is Penrites replacement PAS fluid.
Coolant should be orange/red/pink as the TD5 is supposed to use OAT coolant
It's a sixteen year old car, some of the seals, O rings etc will be getting hard/starting to weep

As Rick said,, and regardless of what you pay,, the car is 16 years old,,
spend 8 hours on here and read about the TD5 D2,,
Your time is cheap compared to a Mechanics hourly rate,,

Are you in Woodend, Ipswich? There are a number of Land Rover specialists who could check it out.
