Aftermarket Stereo Problems

Hey all,

So I have been searching for info, but not really getting enough info on what I need...
I have a 2000 disco 2, with the 2 splits 2 front and 2 rear speakers.
I have installed a new kenwood aftermarket media player, and after about 15 - 20mins everything starts sounding horrible.

I believe it has something to do with the factory amp?

Is there anyway to fix the issue without a whole re - wire?

So you still have the original head unit in and the media player connected to that? If so it may be that the amp doesn't have enough power to drive the speakers. What is the sensitivity of the speakers?

No I have removed to standard issue deck, but I am using the standard speakers etc and used a wiring diagram I got from this site somewhere

If there’s an amp between the headunit and speakers the it sounds like you have a high spec disco. If the old head unit had iso plugs on the back it should have been plug and play with the appropriate adaptor. But My gut feel is that like you I suspect the amp may be the problem. It shouldn’t be too difficult to by pass.

The following thread has a link at the end for the wiring setups for landrover stereos and if you get a copy of the Rave CD from the forum shop it will have the wiring diagrams with colour codes for the relevant speakers.
