Hi guys. Looking to block off the egr valve (s) can’t see the benefit of putting burnt **** into an engine. I have been told that I can get it done electronically, as part of a performance “chip”/ upgrade. Whilst this sounds great the $1200 isn’t quite on the radar yet. Can it be done with blanking plates? Anyone done it? Thanks.

If its an 07 or earlier you should be able to use a blanking kit.

I don't' think you'll be able to use blanking plates. This has been something people have been trying to do for years on these engines - it's not been achieved.

Edit: there is a bloke in WA who was working on a mechanical replacement that fools the ECU into thinking the EGR is still inplace. Not sure on where he is up to with it. From memory there were some issues to iron out.

thanks. wonder if it can be done electronically (with a nonocom etc) like I said can be done as part of a full re chip but $1,200 is a bit steep at the moment

I assume you're aware it will make your vehicle non-compliant with ADRs so, in theory, unroadworthy. Your choice, of course.

I always get an ECU tune done on my vehicles which include an electronic EGR blank.

It's not 100% legal, but then who would know?

They always keep your original tune on file, so you can swap it back at any time.

Cheers, Craig
