Hail, and strong wind.

Passengers had moments to evacuate fiery Mexico plane wreckage (https://thenewdaily.com.au/news/world/2018/08/02/mexico-plane-crash-survivor/?utm_source=Adestra&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Morning%20News%2020180802)

Sounds like one of the times when a delayed takeoff would have been a really good idea!

Possibly a microburst? Hindsight is a good thing....

Yes, hindsight, but from reports I've seen the weather was really dodgy. I suspect you are right about the microburst. These usually cause issues during landing rather than takeoff, so it may have been unexpectedly severe.

(But also reported is a high rate of accidents in Mexico, suggesting perhaps a rather cavalier approach to safety.)
