View Full Version : Body off or not?

2005 D3 diesel manual.
The car is currently being worked on by an independent well equipped LR workshop and apparently the cylinder heads may need to be taken off.
It doesn't matter why at this point.
I've been told that removal of the heads is a body off job although my Haynes workshop manual describes the procedure without removing the body.
Would anyone who has experience of this situation care to comment please?
TIA.

No experience but I can't see why they can't do the work with body on, although they were designed for body off servicing.

I’ve read a great article on Disco3 UK on a farmer who did the body off on his 2005 and used the opportunity to do a complete suspension rebuild and all the other tricky stuff. Turbo access, turbo pipes, exhaust etc etc etc.

If it is a keeper and money not the issue look at it as an opportunity not a problem.

Body off, its not a problem and is WAY easier to do the work.

depending on the kms, if the body is off it might be worth while doing the rear timing belt whilst easy access is there.
