Hey
This part of performance upgrade baffles me and don't know where to start the research.
When a Remap is done, BAS for arguments sake is it a plug and play system or does it require a mechanic?
And is there a reason why no one gets there defenders tuned on a dyno? What one would get the best result?
Sorry if that doesn't make sense I can't wrap my head around it...
My brother got a Remap, EGR removed and decaf done to his TD5 plug and play and it make a massive difference I am thinking of doing the same on my Puma but don't know who does the best remap or to find someone to do it on a dyno
Thanks in advance I know the remap topic has been flogged but haven't seen anything about dyno tuning

The supplier has done all the research and development which would include many spins on a dyno.
It’s only old school engines I.e. 300tdi that benefit from dyno.

Is BAS really that good? Or are there others options?

A mate of mine went through the process of upgrading his exhaust; Air Intake; Larger Intercooler then took his Def130 to a place in Nambour where they did a Remap + DynoTune to get the best performance by matching the Tune to what he had done in the way of making it breathe better. The outcome is that it was a huge improvement and he's rapped with it.
The place is called Just Autos Mechanical Repairs (https://justautosmechanical.com.au/) in Nambour. Since then I've heard of some other good reports from this fella as well..... Might be worth a phonecall at least

If you log in to the Defender 2 forum (UK), you will note from the feedback there that Pete Bell from B.A.S. is "THE MAN". I've never seen a negative report about him.
I reckon your best shot would be to send him an email, have a bit of a chat with him about what He can do, & how he does it, then make up your own mind.
He has various options available, one thing to keep in mind in Aussie, as compared to U.K. is higher ambiant temperatures, so if you go for one of the higher levels of tune, it'd be wise to fit a better intercooler.
Just my thoughts, Pickles.

I can only speak to the way a BAS tune is done:
- you buy a dongle and specify a level of tune and pay the price.
- the dongle (when you get it) plugs onto your OBDII port and talks to an app (iOS or Android) you download to your phone or tablet.
- you also need a laptop (Mac or PC) and download an application onto it. This connects to BAS and downloads your tune when it’s made ready
- first time you connect your dongle to your OBDII port (and phone/tablet) you pull info OUT of your ECU and send that to BAS. (Obviously your phone/tablet needs internet connection for this)
- after you send your ECU data to BAS, Pete makes your tune ready for you to download to your laptop.
- you then connect the dongle to laptop too, and the tune is loaded onto the dongle
- back to your vehicle and connect the dongle (with tune on it) to OBDII port and let it flash the tune onto your ECU
