What sort of money for
Non runner ?
Parts hard to come by ?
Guess something complete, fairly tidy, would be best.
Thanks

Hi,
i was recently looking for one and the non running ones I found were sold for between$3K and $7K for non runners. A running one is more but will depend on engine type etc.Parts are not too bad apart from ENV diff/axle assemblies but you can fit up Defender diffs complete if you want, still using the leaves. Body parts are around but can still be remade but harder.
I drove a few running ones but must say their lack of power and/ or steering was not what I wanted so did not buy even though I had built a dual cab one years ago with P76 V8 and auto--wish I had never sold it too!Drove an Isuzu 3.9 one also with PWS but could not afford the asking price at the time. Running ones are around for $12-$25K I think.
Good luck, let us know what you find.

These are so rare that it is impossible to put a figure on what they are worth. Series 2a FC most of the parts are the same as normal models, and the bits that aren't are easy to fabricate. The 2b, on the other hand, has a wider track, ENV axles, and a different transfer case. Parts for all these bits have a lot in common with hen's teeth.
The 2a is underpowered, easy to overload, and has a distressing tendency to lie on its side when used on anything of a side slope. The 2b is a much more successful design, being reasonably powered (for the era and the type of vehicle) when fitted with the usual six cylinder engine, but this is thirsty.
Re-engining either of the types will greatly reduce their collectable value.
In my view, either would only be worth getting as a collectable. While it is impossible to put a current value on them, they are likely to appreciate in value, but I don't think this is likely to be anything very dramatic.
