Hi Guys, Just purchased this from Repco it has the right spec for my09 D3 2.7ltr and for my son's my16 D4 3.0 ltr it is in a 6 litre tub. It was brought out for the Ford ranger and Mustang vehicles. I payed $49.99 for the tub great value at that price I think it is on special at the moment.

I can’t buy it purely for its woeful advertising. Not only does it imply its magnetic as such, it claims its molecules have intelligence? I feel purchasing is in some way suggesting to the advertisers we’re fools and we believe the utter rot on the outside.
Not a bad price though I do admit [emoji106]

Some one may correct me but i'm sure the correct oil is the A3/B4 spec , its what i use in my 08 tdv6.

I thought the 2.7 and the 3.0 used a different grade of oil.

According to Castrol the oil for my 09 D3 is Magntec professional A5 and the spec in my manual is the same as on the tub
It also says I'm my manual if that oil is not available use 5w 30 Acea A3 B3.

Believe is same oil (without marketing) sold by Ford for the Territory definitely meeting 2.7D specs letter for letter from the owners manual.

Not hard to find a Ford dealer.

3.0 litre twin turbo's specify ford wss-m2c934.
And yep, ford oil is rebadged castrol , nothing wrong with castrol oil in general.

Not 100% correct. 934 is for DPF equipped vehicles and works also in non-dpf too, whereas non-dpf can use 913 also.

yep the user manual in my 08 D3 says that or better . Not sure if A1/B1 is better or worse in the scale of oil.

The spec for my son's my16 D4 3 ltr is WSSM2C913 -D from his manual so this oil can be used in his vehicle also.

The only thing to keep in mind, is that it is on clearance - so if you are on a trip and want to top-up, you'll have to lug some oil with you... rather than calling into a car parts shop to buy some more.

From my MY08 book. Only one choice.

IMHO theres better oils out there. A1/B1 has been dropped from the ACEA 2016 schedule

Ean

My MY08 (Sep 07 build) book gives no option. See other post.

I used to use Valvoline synpower FE 5W-30 in my D3 - it meets specs ACEA: A1/B1, A5/B5 & Ford WSS-M2C-913D, Ford WSS-M2C-913C, B, A
I now use Valvoline Sympower 5W-40 ACEA: A3/B4 & BMW LL-01 so does not meet any of the Ford specs. Im seeing a vastly improved level of wear from the A3/B4 valvoline oil with a longer drain interval than the ford spec oil.

Interesting Shane.

Mich better HTHS with the A3/B3 oil.

I'm running an E6/E9 mid SAPS oil in the TD5 but haven't taken any samples yet

Hi Guys seems odd that Ford are using the Magntec A5 in their new Rangers and Mustangs if ACEA A3 B4 is a better oil. My have to do with clearances as the A5 according to the above chart is only suitable for certain engines
Cheers

From what I've read into it and understand the A5 is more a fuel efficency based thing as it specifically for lower viscosity oils. That would be a major focus for car manufacturers over engine protection (still needs to provide adequate protection to get the massess through warrenty without causing issues however)
