Saw one being driven by two young guys on the road when I was in Japan. Not too souped up, but definitely not factory.

Off topic but i owned a 200b. Put a 76 degree rally cam in it. The thing idled like a rotary!!!! Custom made intake with a quaddy on it! I **** you not!
One of my more fun builds that one. A real head turner. Used to get pulled over in the street asking what the hell is in that thing.
Fun times fun times.

No there was a 4 cylinder car which was either called the Skyline or maybe Gloria. I cannot remember which or whether it was something else.
AFAIR the engines and design of Prince 4 cylinders were from Rootes group ie Hillman.
The Prince Skyline GT had AFAIR a copy of a Mercedes OHC engine.
I once had a top speed run with an Early Skyline GT in my Hillman Imp GT modified and dyno tuned by Barry Broomhall.
To my surprise and the driver of the Skyline I kept up to over 165Kmh or so.
I can recall seeing both the four and GT in a Showroom in Brisbane. The dealer also sold Hino Contessa.( which was a Renault clone)
Datsun 200b was waaaay later around 1978.
Regards Philip A
Just another bit of useless info. Datsun originally bought GBP 40million of BMC A series engines and tooling. The Datsun Bluebirds all had a "metric" A series. I can recall about 20 years ago seeing the engine out of a "grinner" ute and guess what it was a BMC A series. That engine lasted a long time.

I thought the Rootes Group was purchased by Mitubishi/Chrysler?? our family car was a 66/67 Hillman Minx, anyway it was the last of the Rootes Group models, lovely car.
