Ok guys,
So I purchased a set of 4.11 CW&P and the seller said they were for rover front Salisbury rear.
Turns out it's for rover front and rear.
Can I use that rear rover one as a front on a different rig?
Or am I a complete idiot?

Most older Rover diffs are the same front and rear but there is aftermarket reverse cut ones that are specifically for the front.

You could but probably shouldn’t as they have cut them to optimize strength driving forward.

That said Ashcroft do not currently do a 4.11. It may be something old and I’m not sure what they did in the past.

I would have no problems using a Rear diff in the front , (as all land rovers are from the factory)
But I would not use a reverse cut front diff in the rear .
if they both look the same that are standard cut , so you could use in front or rear.

This is them. Rear on the left. They seem to have opposite rotations?

The boys above talked of reverse cut, (the set on the right)
That goes in the front as it's driving on the stronger side of the teeth at that end of the car.

I see, so effectively I have a strong front and a normal rear?
And as mentioned should be fine to run either as a front.
Next part of the question is: where can I get a 4.11 sals CW&P?
GBR Utah have a 4.12 Sals CW&P will that be ok?
I love this forum. Thanks for all the replies so far everyone.

Yes you can use 4.12 & 4.11 together no problems at all .
A slightly lower ratio in the back is infact better than having both the same, as you go around bends the front travels further.
But even crossing the Nullarbor your CDL will hardly turn. Thinking about it its same as having a difference in tyre diameter of only a few mm .
Im running Ashcroft 4.75 in the back of my series & 4.7 in the front . (I don't have a Centre diff) Ive noticed I have less wind up now than with 4.7 in both ends .

Are you sure those are 4.11? They look like the current 33 x 8 which is 4.125 = 33/8

Sometimes Lucky8 has the Sals 4.11 in stock. Getting a 4.11 Sals is hard, only a few make them.
i'm running a GBR 4.11 rear sals and Ashcroft 4.12 front
when i bought mine from Ashcroft they didn't make a 4.11 front only 4.12 front and didn't make a sals 4.11/4.12 at all). Lucky8 is advertising a sals 4.11 from Ashcroft. My tip is to ask the Q before buying as it is different to the info from Ashcroft whether they sell a 4.11 sals.
