Hi All, I've been a past owner of a couple of D1s and am now looking to find a D3.

Really just want the V8 this time!

There are some 2005 and 2006 V8 models around, with the occassional 2007.

Question is, does anybody own a 2008 or 2009 D3 V8?

Land Rover customer care told me that they did make the V8 in 2008 and 2009, and that it was sold in Australia.

I have never seen one for sale, so are there actually any out there?

Cheeers.

There's a few on carsales ATM but mostly 05-07. Good luck with your search.

The only v8's I saw when looking were early models and mostly 05/06.

I haven't seen them past 07. My understanding was they didn't sell the V8 after the mid 07 update.

The V8 is much better than the petrol V6, considering they use the same amount of fuel! Just know that the early ones have the Canbus cascading issues - if a brake light globe fails the errors can cascade through the system, causing suspension faults and lowering the car to the bump stops.

Pretty sure they went as far as 2011 or 12

I see in TerryO profile he has a D4 V8 listed as 1 of his landies , so that makes it at least late 2009 prolly 2010 .

Cheers Ean

There are a few D4 V8s from around 12/13 listed on Carsales but I do not see any D3 V8s from 08/09 - the closest is a 2007 08MY.

I’ve only heard of the Jag v8 4.4 in a 05/06 D3. They continued in the RRS along with Jag 4.2 SC up to 2009, and changed over to 5.0 na and SC version in 2nd half of 2009. The L322 was the same as RRS.

Thanks all.

The D4 was available with a 5.0L V8 and the early D3 (05-07) with the 4.4 V8.

According to Land Rover they made the D3 with V8 in 08-09, but it appears there are none! I think they may have got it wrong.

Strange they dropped the V8 for 2 years at the end of the D3 then?!

Probably wasnt much call for them in OZ so they stopped importing them until the D4 was released.

Maybe that was the time when other LR products went from the 4.4V8 to the 4.2V8 and knowing that the 5.0 version and the D4 was coming along they decided not to continue with the 4.4 and not re engineer the D3 for the 4.2 and pick up the 5.0 when the D4 was released.

Search in the US reveals they certainly did make them in 08 and 09 with a V8.

So were they sold in Australia, is the real question now?

Still have never seen one for sale in Oz and no-one here has said they have either at this stage!

That gloss black is a tough colour.

I’m borrowing my father in laws gloss black Pajero at the moment.

Our driveway has rose bushes on one side and a vine on the other side. My silver Disco been doing it for years with no noticeable damage.

Black Pajero looks like it has crossed a continent after 4 weeks with deep scratching. Needs heavy buffing to recover.

That seems expensive for an 8/9 year old car with those Km and a petrol V8 - maybe Ok id a diesel but not a petrol.

Price seems about right to me, though I'm sure you could get for closer to mid 30K. They are a fully optioned car with things you just don't get on other versions. The motor is much nicer than the diesel without the inherent problems they have.
I sold mine with more km but a lot of accessories for not much less.

In quite a few ways it was a better car than the RRS L494 I replaced it with and it certainly was better equipped standard than my optioned up Autobiography.

Ah yes, the D4 V8 is a lovely machine and I would love one, but alas, I just can't really afford to sink that amount of money into a car at the moment.

I've had plenty of diesels in the past and even my current car is a diesel, but touring is not really on the radar and I feel like a change to petrol would be good.

Looks like it will have to be an early D3 if I want the V8. Would prefer an update 08/09, but not keen on the V6 really.

Are we sure there is no-one in Oz with an 08/09 D3 V8??

Well, I've had it on pretty good authority, that the update 08/09 D3 never made it to Oz with the V8!

Damn! [bawl]

I think I always knew this deep down, but wanted to be proved wrong. :dbcry:

Looks like the only option for a D3 V8 is the earlier 05-07 model.

I have an 05 V8 and love it. But if you can find the right one with the Canbus update go for that

I believe the canbus update was done during the 08/09 update, so not available on a V8.

I just have to bide my time now waiting for the right one to show up in Perth. :whistling:

I saw one a year or so ago that would have been perfect, but wasn't really looking to get one then.

The Perth market is small, so you are lucky if there is one V8 every few months or more.

I'd get as new as possible, or keep a few spare brake light globes :)

BrianElloy sold a ripper D4 V8 earlier this year. Went out 4 wheeling with him last year and that car was a weapon. If you can afford the fuel bills, grab one!

Interesting, thanks.

I'll be looking for an 07 model, but with the limited market in Perth, I may just have to take what I can get.

Good Luck, I got mine in Sydney last year, there seems to be a few around the country if your prepared to buy interstate. You've probably seen this but this came up on a quick carsales search.

Check out this Land Rover Discovery 3.
