Hey all,

Looking to get a Disco Series 2 TD5 as i've said before. Went to test drive one this morning and we noticed a couple of things.
Testing out the suspension on a little dirt rise next to the road, as we went up we heard a noise that sounded like an electrical buzzing, like a little motor. Is this the ETC cutting the drive to that wheel or is it something else??

Also what is the possible cost of replacement timing belt??

Cheers

The ETC you will hear spool up before it triggers, which sounds like a pattering sound, especially if you cover the brake. Its pretty quiet though. You will hear the ABS trigger though.

The TD5 doesn't have a timing belt, so you will never replace one.

Just one point:

ETC does not cut drive the the wheels... what it does is through the ABS system it brakes individual wheels ( when they start to slip) - meaning that the diff puts the power across to the wheel that does have traction.

It is quite normal to hear a buzzing chattering sort of sound as the system is working - you should also see the ETC light on the dash if traction control has cut in.

Hope that helps,

Mark
