The Vehicle Standards Unit of TMR has recently reviewed the Light Vehicle Modification Codes LS9 and LS10 part of Queensland Code of Practice (QCoP) for Light Vehicle Modifications. The proposed changes in the review is to align the codes more closely with the VSB 14 National Code of Practice LS7 and LS8. This means the maximum vehicle lift permitted will be increased from 125mm to 150mm. Queensland will still allow 75mm for non-Electronic Stability Control vehicles without certification, and hence the need to retain LS9 & LS10.


I was always under them impression 50mm was max. lift (I assumed suspension) and 25mm for tyres.

I have the response from one stakeholder which pulls apart questions a lot of the recommendations. Be interesting what the eventual outcome is.

Without ESC-
A vehicle lift up to and including 75mm combining both suspension lift and tyre diameter increase (maximum suspension lift 50mm, maximum tyre diameter increase 50mm) is acceptable under self-certification.
A vehicle lift between 76mm and 125mm inclusive, combining a suspension lift, a tyre diameter increase and a body lift (maximum suspension lift 50mm, maximum tyre diameter increase 50mm, maximum body lift 50mm) requires certification and testing by an Approved Person.
With ESC-
A suspension lift up to and including 50mm is acceptable under self-certification. A vehicle lift over 50 mm or due to a combination of any other lift (tyres, or body blocks) requires certification and testing by an Approved Person.

So for most newish 4x4, i.e. with ESC, 2" suspension OK, no body lift allowed at all. And no allowance for any increase in tyre size at all. period.

But without ESC, I think same as generally understood before, 75mm total limit, 50mm suspension lift
