Hmmm, an all-electric one would be nice!

yes obviously my next 4x4 purchase will be 100% Electric , but which one . Ive gone off the boil on the E-Pace as we now have 2 x I-Pace in the family & decided its not my style.

The short list is now Defender, Bollinger B1 or Wrangler . ...... Ive already signed for the Bollinger ( but non binding )

Jeep will make an electric Wrangler in 2020 | Electrek (https://electrek.co/2017/11/30/jeep-electric-wrangler-2020/)

LandRover are losing credibility fast by showing that hideous looking clown wrapped Bobtailed RangeRover in Autocar .

JLR - I know you read this, ... Just show us what the Defender looks like.

You got a point there, My Wifes car is a Renault Captur , ... but Half the price of a LandRover "Blob" , but looks better , & twice as good.

This Bollinger really looks the thing. If it only had the green oval... I never heard about it so far, shame about me. Until now I was prepared to wait until Tesla would launch their 'ute'/pick-up truck but since no one knows how far down the pipeline this one is the Bollinger seems a very interesting alternative. Thanks for sharing!
Strangely enough, Land Rover had an all-electric Defender running on one of their premises already several years ago. Haven't heard anything about it since, which I consider a real pity.

The Carsales article is just a re-write of the latest Autocar one. Long on supposition, short on facts.
Obviously the new Deefer will be built on an adaptation of an existing body pan. It wouldn't make economic sense to do otherwise.
Equally obvious is that, if they wish to recapture the market they once had, there will need to be a SWB, LWB and utility variant.
If I add a couple of hundred "fluff" words, throw in a reference or two to "unnamed sources within JLR" and a couple of mash-up pics, I've just written an article about the new Defender! (With about as much relevance as the Autocar/Carsales one).

Fluff and supposition. Drivel and dross. Surface veneers and window dressing. The image, the hipster beard, the spray on mud, the ski lodge-looking mega showroom, the romanticisation, the design conformity, the past glory embarrassment, the fluff and supposition. Is there a Defender in there ...anywhere???

Land Rover Defender replacement info leak! - Pat Callinan's 4X4 Adventures (https://mr4x4.com.au/land-rover-defender-replacement-info-leak/)

I think the DC100 five door actually looks good, except for the front overhang which looks to create a bad approach angle. The wheels look quite large, which is good, but may have confused some people's ability to judge the proportions.

Apart from the wheels I could live with that shape wagon in silver. The front half of that silver wagon looks a bit like my L322 from the side.

I daily a pajero ns SWB. Great car drive like a go car
The steering is very sharp and comes with torsen center diff (similar to Ashcroft ATB).
Front and rear independent suspension.
I love it.

And looking at the dc110 photos, woo.
I may have been driving a dc110 alreadyhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180914/c0cf9ac2edcc9434897608adcd533a45.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180914/434694dabbca2d5f3fb5811dc7cf4aa6.jpg

I see potential in this. To understand the proportions, look at the size of the doors. Roverbloods may have done themselves a disservice by knocking it(?).

It truly has big wheels, great approach, ramp and departure angles. Needs a lift in the front though.

With the new alloy monocoque high sills may not be a realistic option(?). Low sills really give me the turkeys.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180914/4506a2480ec7910156b1375e4fac14cb.jpg

Although photo shopped, I reckon I could live with something along those lines.

Don’t forget too, if based on the current chassis, it’ll have air lift in/on it anyway, so I can wouldn’t worry about it being a tad low.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see 😉 🧐

At least it looks different from all the other modern LR products, which is great.

In fact, even for people that know a bit about them, looking from the front, they all look way too similar.
From a distance, there is no hope of telling them apart.
From the rear, well the D5 sticks out like dogs nuts because it looks so horrid, but most of the others are very similar.
i saw a Velar yesterday, without the seeing the badge,i would have thought it was a RRS or a RR.

Now i am sure the guy who pays $200K plus for his RR vogue, doesn't want it to look like something you can get for $100K.

Sure if one model is beside the other there is a bit of difference, but seeing them in traffic, when you often only get a quick glance at them, is a different story.

Anyway,just my 2 cents worth....[biggrin]

Generic, homogenous, unoriginal, conformist, uniform = a dull dull world, whether it’s Land Rover models that all look the same and pretend to be diverse, dualcab ute clones, plastic burgers or whatever.

The best design is rarely mainstream when it first appears. Icons don’t necessarily sell in large numbers. This has arguably been core to Defenders’ long-term success.

But for some reason the majority want sameness, not innovation. Profits over diversity.

Not me. Defender will need to be substantially different from all other current Land Rover models to make me take notice. But then if it’s generic it will probably sell well, which afterall seems to be the sole motivation of vehicle design these days.

Most probably won’t agree. But profit over diversity = Generic, homogenous, unoriginal, conformist, uniform = Land Rover today.

We can wait and see, yes. Well what else can we do?

Well we could just buy a generic dualcab of any brand, because it’s a safe bet that’s what the next Defender will be based on. And if it looks like a Pajero as highlighted above, it will Flop.

Speaking of generic dual cabs. A dual cab drove past me today, it was covered in some weird rough, dull, speckled paint job (presumably to look tough) and all the badges had been replaced by skull badges.

'Cool!' said my boys *facepalm* 'What sort of Ute is that dad?'

Without the badge...I had no idea.

(I've come to quite like the look of the D5 rear end having been a hater to start with. And I reckon the RR's and the Disco' are quite distinctly different - but I do see a lot of them in Sydney's Hills region...all clean and shiny....)
