HI ALL.

WHAT SORT OF KMS COULD I EXPECT FROM A 300TDI BEFORE A REBUILD.

300,000 + is quite common, depending on how well it was maintained.

i know of several with 400,000-500,000 on them that havent had a spanner put to them. mine has 210,000 on it and it still pulls like a bullock...

If they lose coolant, they can easily overheat and crack the head (or was it just the head gasket that went - I can't remember).

That's the only problem I've had with mine in 10 years. Should have taken action when a few spots of coolant showed up on the driveway, but I ignored it for a week or two and then it was too late. No warning on the Temp gauge either.

They are an excellent motor.

Evidently they can spring a leak behind that front auxillary housing where the water jacket is , the orignal gasket was a bit sus, so Ive been told. Have a 130 trayback 1996 model, not to many probs so far use it everyday for work. Love driving it , even though they are a bit squeezy. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
