Howdy everyone

Just interested to know what people use for carrying their tools when heading away for a weekend of driving.

I have previously used some very old canvas tool rolls (+50 years in age 8O ) which I inherited, but I recently bought some new metric additions to the tool family and started using a steel tool box.

The steel box has not really lasted and has made heaps of noise offroad. I am now in the process of tracking down some new tool rolls as a replacement (if anyone knows where you can get them at a good price, please let me know).

My preference is for the canvas rolls as they protect the tools, nice and quiet and can be packed away in all sorts of small spaces.

Just interested to know what everyone uses for their tools

Regards

I use a combination. My basic tool kit is kept in a steel toolbox. The speciality tools that I carry are kept in my trunk (think Army type), which also houses a lot of other gear that I carry!

i use a tool bag made from canvas, on long trips i fill it to the top, on short trips i just take the basics, i tried the tool box theory but it takes up the same amount of room when i only half fill it,

i must get some tool rolls to put in the abg so that i can find one off spanners quicker as at the moment everything is shoved in together, metric, imperial, cable ties, electrical connector bolts nuts screws wire files, mulitmeter, tape and the list goes on

Bucket, toolbox, back pocket.

Haven't had tool rolls in years.

What a great idea, I'll have to make myself up some new ones, get rid of that jingling sound. Spray them with a bit of that demon WD40 and they stay nice and oily too.

Mate I picked up an old Bren Gun Barrel ( $10) bag from the Disposals in Campbelltown its about 1m long by 1/2 metre wide when laid out it has two large pockets to put tolls in and rolls up nice and tight - so no noise - when rolled it fits neatly across the width of the rear loadbay behind the seats in the disco.
