Friends cars both got stolen from their house while sleeping including their pride and joy Herbie. Stolen from the Cranbourne East area and has been spotted since in the area. If anyone sees this very distinctive vehicle can they please call Crime Stoppers or the local Police directly. There's a full report in yesterdays Age - The crimes least likely to be solved in Victoria (https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/the-crimes-least-likely-to-be-solved-in-victoria-20180920-p504y5.html)

Scumbags crawled through a small doggie door while the family was asleep in the house and stole the keys.

Car has been spotted a few times but the owner was actively looking and making enquiries and they seem to have gone to ground. The ute they also stole has been seen quite a few times too and the Police believe that is being used as a drug running vehicle currently, but nothing has been recovered and hopes are fading. 🙁

Not for the first time have Doggy Doors been used to gain access to a house. It just amazes me how they think they could escape quickly if confronted by the occupier before the baseball bat descends on their arse or other anatomical parts.

Her81e will be recovered, don't know where, don't know when. Bugger, starting to sound like Dame Vera Lynn! [smilebigeye]

Also what auslizard said. Scary that, no not the Fridgie one.[wink11]

The choice of stolen vehicle also astounds me as it is so identifiable. Why not nick a white "World Car" they all look the same?

I wouldn't like to be a person confronting this owner in his house - you may or not be able to tell from the pic in the article, he's a big lad, and he also has quite a bit of muscle behind him too. He is one of the nicest people I've met, but geez I wouldn't want to get on his wrong side I can tell you that.

Not sure what would happen if he found the thieves before the Police did to tell you the truth...

Yes, a very identifiable vehicle - they also stole his work ute which makes more sense and this is the vehicle they are using by the sounds of it. Hopefully Herbie is still in a garage somewhere to be found if they ever catch these scum buckets.

I am am installing a kill switch and ordering some kind of fancy whole wheel club lock (looks like a big silver discus) will also be looking into your suggestion now. The large German Shepherd behind my "doggie door" is something I highly recommend to dog lovers with the health and time to care for such a beast. They might come in but between the two of us some of them ain't leaving if I have my way.
