Ransom scammer/hacker

I like most people get the occasional attempted scammer but yesterday i got a good one i have to say.
Received this email.


Hello!I'm a member of an international hacker group.

As you could probably have guessed, your account MY EMAIL ADDRESS was hacked, I sent message you from it.

Now I have access to you accounts! You still do not believe it?
So, this is your password: MY 15 CHARACTER PASS , right?

Within a period from July 5, 2018 to September 21, 2018, you were infected by the virus we've created, through an adult website you've visited.
So far, we have access to your messages, social media accounts, and messengers.
Moreover, we've gotten full damps of these data.

We are aware of your little and big secrets...yeah, you do have them. We saw and recorded your doings on porn websites. Your tastes are so weird, you know..

But the key thing is that sometimes we recorded you with your webcam, syncing the recordings with what you watched!
I think you are not interested show this video to your friends, relatives, and your intimate one...

Ok a couple of things i would like to clear up before people say silly things.

I DO NOT FREQUENT ADULT SITES!
I DO NOT OWN A WEBCAM!
I DO NOT HAVE ANY SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS! (youtube channel i post vids for here is about all)
I DONT USE AND MESSENGER PROGRAMS PERIOD! (youtube and aulro are pretty much the extent of my internet usage)
I HAVE HAD 4 DIFFERENT OS INSTALLED ON THIS PC IN THE TIMEFRAME SUGGESTED!

I have nothing to hide so i am not concerned with the threats, however the bigger issue of them hacking my email account is worrying.
My password was 15 characters. Special characters and upper and lower case. By all accounts its a solid password.... Or was!!!
I told my wife obviously as i was and am a little concerned with bank accounts etc. She suggested perhaps one of my sons may have been watching naughty stuff.......
Even then i cant see how my pc would be compromised as i scan all the time and would have noticed.
SOOOOO did they hack my server? This is what i think happened as the email account they hacked is not my main account but rather one i have been using recently.
Contacted the host and they were of little to no help. Decided to post this to ACCC scam watch thing.

Further more within this time frame i have had Windows 10 installed then 7 then linux and now back to 7. Yes 4 different operating systems in that time and each one was protected with AV and a Firewall.
Impossible to be infected on all 4 systems so apart from the email being hacked everything else is a lie.

Imagine however i did frequent adult sites, had webcams and did have social media accounts as suggested. Given this hacker has got my password correct i can see a lot of people would fear this and pay the ransom!!

The main reason i am posting it here is to draw attention to it.
Its basically a scam but a bloody good one. Some truth mixed with lies. Yea i can see people actually getting caught with this so be mindful. Scammers are getting better.

That's a new one to me. I'm the same - I have no facebook, etc and no webcams but I bet that would freak some people out... [biggrin]

Most of these passwords were pawned from adobe, yahoo and a few other big name sites that have been hacked

Look for the pawn’d website and do a look up and it will show you were it was obtained usually

Damn im in worse shape than i thought. I only setup the compromised email account about 2 months ago! Appears other emails are gone also.

Big day of password changes and tightening security on my emails.

It could be they just have the data from one of the many many sites that had their customer bases hacked into and are just sending those emails out . All they need is the email and the users password for one site and as many people use the same password, and some do visit adult sites, they will get enough worried users that they make money.

I got similar a few weeks ago & ignored it & haven't disappeared in a puff of coloured smoke. Well not as far as I can tell anyway.[bigsmile1]

My Laptop has a piece of black Duct tape over the camera lens just in case, as well as they would get a nice view of a painted ceiling as it faces vertically. Good luck with that then.[smilebigeye]

Also have had similar several months ago though withot quoting anyting to me which led me to believe they really knew anything about me, ie just bluff and threats. I just ignored them. Nothing happened.
