Hello all, brain picking time.
Before I put the ol'fella back on wheels I filled the front swivels with oil and grease. After a while I found that one of the fescolized ball seals was leaking. New balls new seals. Before I strip and try installing another new seal............... Its long messy way in!
Any ideas?
Cheers

what model is the vehicle ??
did you shim the pivot points on the ball ?
did you shim the pivot points on the ball correctly ?
what grease of oil did you add to the hub ?

Found out that though I did shim, and got the correct "breakout" I didn't read far enough. One needs to do a "grease wipe" on the ball to ensure seal contact over whole range of movement.
I need to remove shims from the bottom and place on top nd do a "grease wipe"
cheers

Hey Rick,
I did mine not so long ago, old balls, but new seals. I had one leak and one not, but the leak was coming from the perimeter of the seal near the seal retainer. I found the instructions about grease packing the seal retainer confusing, as I couldn't see the point of doing that. In the end I made sure I greased the recess where the seal retainer sits, and that worked much better, no more leaks.
Cheers,
John
