Hi all

I am starting installing a centre console in my 300Tdi project. I have a number of ARB style LED rocker switches with back lighting to install but despite searching for ages have had no luck finding the wiring diagrams that I need. As i have mentioned here in a number of different threads vehicle electrics and I do not see eye to eye.

I will be installing four 4 pin switches which I think I have sussed. Working on my test bench anyway (back-lite illumination and dash light), so that a bonus. I am trying to find a diagram for a wash/wipe 6 pin switch, so this has three positions, momentary on (wash), off and on (wiper). The original wash /wipe switch only has 4 wires... There is also a 5 pin switch for battery monitoring.. this has three positions also. on off on and will be connected to a VDO volt gauge.

Can anyone help with a diagram for the last two in particular bearing in mind I find this stuff pretty challenging?

Thanks in advance..

Try the Carling website.

http://www.carlingtech.com/switches

The ARB switches are just Carling switches and somewhere on there are wiring diagrams for all their switches - I’ve used them to work out the wiring on a few of mine.

Cheers,
Jon

A lot of those pins are jumped together. The 12volt feed to power the light within the switch (one from your dash lights), and the ground from each switch. The rest are 12v in from fused source, 12v out to relay or accessory. If your switches have a 2nd light that comes on when the switch is thrown, then that is another jumper.

Thanks Island_mouse

Yes I figured a lot would be jumpered together. I saw some clips on YouTube that gave some idea. I will have another look next weekend. The work in your photos looks of high quality!

The upper pins are the upper light. The middle ones are the switch contacts. The middle of these the common and the outers the switch outs opposite the position of the switch.

I spent hours yesterday trying to get the switch "on" led's on my new bank of Carling rocker switches to work without success.
I now know that there are two earths (one for each led) that have to be connected and a jumper to power the light.
Thanks for the information. It has "illuminated" the solution perfectly !!
