Very interesting. Only making the three lost episodes.
I reckon it's worthwhile.
Looks as if they're putting thought into the show, too. David Jason will make an excellent Captain Mainwaring.

Me too.[smilebigeye] It was a great send up of a very real problem that Great Britain faced alone & the weather was the only thing that really saved it & apparently caused the cancellation of Adolph's intended Operation Sea Lion Invasion of Britain,

but I guess one had to be there & experience it.

My 'er indoors was.

I remember enjoying the originals immensely, having my grandmother (with Lancashire accent) giving running commentary during the shows.

I liked Hey Dad back then, too. I remember, in 1989, going into a souk in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and there were all these Arabs crowded around the window of an electronics store. They were watching Hey Dad - especially Simone Buchanan. who played Debbie and would have been 21 at the time.

Hmm. I'll let Mick watch it and tell us what it's like. FFS, who's going to replace Clive Dunn or Arthur Ridley? Seriously, some things should be left alone.

You are soooooo right. Case in point, "The Dambusters" remake made or was to be made (maybe it's been scrapped for all know as it has gone quiet?) in New Zealand. Lancaster mock ups were made at great expense etc etc

I wonder when some "entrepreneur" will want to remake "The Cruel Sea"?[bigsad][bigsad]

Even back then i used to feel weird watching it. The "dad" used to get really close to the kids.
Thats my memory and my fears were well founded as what was later to be known about that particular poor excuse for a human.

I enjoyed Dad's Army, my favorite character being Capt. Mainwaring played by Arthur Lowe.
I can't imagine any remakes having the same impact.
Another show of a "military" nature that I liked was Sgt. Bilko, played by Phil Silvers.

As for war or military stuff. Hogans Heros was my show but i think it was a little later after Dads Army and Bilko.
Cant think that far back. I still watch Hogans Heros when i see it on the idiot box.
