hi guys,
I've just got a Sony XAV-AV205DB (double-DIN receiver) installed by a professional on my Discovery 3 (2007, SE model), together with a Mongoose MC304 camera.
When i reverse, it displays the basic distance guidelines (3 levels), which are a feature of the Sony receiver, but that isn't too useful as i have reverse distance sensors.
It doesn't display what is sometimes referred to as "active guidelines" or "dynamic guidelines", you know those lines that get curved as you turn the steering wheel, to predict the trajectory of your car, taking into account how much you are turning.
When i look at my camera's product sheet, the illustration shows such lines:
MC304 - Reversing Cameras - Reversing Cameras & LCD Monitors - Products (https://mongoose.com.au/catalog/product/view/id/23/s/mc304-waterproof/category/77/)
The installer told me such dynamic lines wouldn't be possible on the Discovery 3, because it lacked some sort of interface with the steering wheel (i reckon he referred to ABS, but i am unsure, as i was in a rush and couldn't stay to chat).
So asking for your experience: has anyone managed to have such dynamic guidelines on an aftermarket reverse camera on a Disco 3?
Are you aware of the limitation he referred to?
I am having few hickups on the installation, maybe all normal, but i thought i'd ask for second opinions here :)
cheers
Nicolas
