Hi everyone,
Anybody from the Port Maquarie district in northern NSW? I'm planning a trip up that way over easter and was wondering if anybody can suggest a few exiting tracks/trails/scenery/natural wonders to go and explore? Haven't been up that way so any suggestions welcome. TIA
Cheers,
Henry

Cresent Head via the coast and then the ferryacross to port Macquarie, Evens Head, you used to be able to drive on the beach at these 2, Trial Bay Gaol is worth a look, Barrington Tops, Bulahdelah area, Chichcester SF.
Be prepared for huge crowds up there, it's really, really, really popular 8O

Even the Oxley Highway between Port and Tamworth is a great drive - just for the scenery if nothing else. It is very twisty & lots of fun in a sports car... but is a great slow drive as well in a Defender.

Elands has the Ellenborough falls, longest single drop in Southern Hemisphere, or something like that. Drive from Port via Wauchope/Comboyne, or from Taree via Wingham.
There is also a pretty interesting dirt road through the state forest up that way. Haven't done that bit in a good few years, but last time I did it there were so many Lyre birds that we went from 'ooh-ah', to 'can we catch one for dinner', in about five k's. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ Bloody LR hoons.

Hmmmm Crescent Heads - nice call that! Love it there!
Alot of beach and dirt too=nice! (and the fishing!!! great!)
yep -along with several sight seeing tracks/routes etc on the way - up from Bulahdelah (mid North Coast)- up to Port.....(North Coast region)
Some good tracks at :
Barrington Tops
Seal Rocks
Forster (gotta know them though - me thinks they were private land?!)
yeah - try contacting the NSW tourism people - Hunter region Tourism NSW, Mid North Coast, North Coast NSW etc - They'll (Should) be able to send out to you (basic) maps of their areas and then you can look at them and narrow your travells down from that..........
(did that late last year - and they were able to provide basic ones to me)
but as Redback said - now WAY TOO popular and everyone does the 4wd??? camping thing up the NSW coast! - just try finding anywhere available this Easter Break - not a chance!
Here is the Tourism NSW web site - click on Maps - it'sll bring up NSW by regions - pick away - call the local branch and get their local maps posted to you.......

Hope this helps in some way!

there are also quite a few state forests around the area, i'm not sure what the 4wding would be like, but i'm sure the scenery would be great!!!
