Seriously, though, I've been getting a good run out of Supercharge batteries over the last 5 years or so.

You could check the first post in this thread, too. Battery Box Bolt (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-2-a/265745-battery-box-bolt.html)

It's a bit like asking what's the best oil or what's the best beer everyone will have a different idea based on personal experience.

Personally......I've always looked at the casing first. If it looks poorly/cheaply made the contents will probably be the same.
Then I go for a calcium sealed battery with at least 3 years warranty.

Supercharge seem to be rated highly but I've always used Delkor. I have a few that are 7-8years old, after doing service on the Defender or Territory they pass to one of the Series vehicles (which aren't used much).

I did have a battery fail on the Territory while away from home and got a Bosch calcium battery fitted. Failed within 18months but was replaced FOC, of course it had failed at home so I purchased a Delkor to get the car moving and now have a spare Bosch battery that will come in handy at some point (it's regularly charged).

I like Optima batteries and have used 3 blue tops on the Defender and find them to be excellent
Tried Bosch calcium and found they last the warranty period

I’ve used Delcors for years without issue. Have them in pretty much everything now.

Supercharge...
X2.
6 years out of one that was in my old Camry when I bought it. About 4 1/2 years out of the one that was the Mrs. D2 when I bought it. The Camry's gone, The Mrs. D2 has another Supercharge battery, my old 20 footer runs 2 new ones and the replacement battery for the Camry now resides in my 12 foot tinny and cops all of the discharge / recharge plus smacking around that life in a tinny can offer.

Have to disagree with this one .. best avoided.

I haven’t had a lot of success with the Centuries after 3 years or so. Had one in the Defender 300Tdi and it would struggle to start in the morning.

The Century deep cycles seemed to last longer in the Defender & all the tractors.

The old Bond batteries seem to last forever though !

Willow old style......... no 'magic eye' of impending death.

The first one went fine for over 10 years and the two replacements are now about 3 or 4 years old with no issues.

Dunno if you can still get them. Mine came from Goddings in Whittlesea.

Optima get my vote for a starter. My experiences are they are more expensive, but for me they still come out cheaper due to longevity (reliability).

What part Number would that be? What are the Cold Cranking Amps? What vehicle did you fit it into?

If in Bne give Battery Central a call 07-31948805. He's an autoelectrician with large range of all things autolectrical. More Importantly he is conversant with L.R's. I was thinking about renewing my Optima Yellowtop which provides aux power. He suggested that whilst they are a good battery there are equivalent in physical size yet greater capacity as per Watt hours with no degration in quality.

He also installs(oh, sweet bliss,......not having to wrestle batteries into the *#$@!!! underseat storage area).
