Diff Oils - Castrol SAF-XO - 75W/90

I got to do a basic oil service on my car tomorrow and going to head out soon to buy oil filter.

Also my diffs are overdue on my revised service interval so I will do them also - no e-diff. Normally I can hunt around and find Castrol SAF-XO - 75W/90 spec grade oil but I dont have the time today.

What is the "agreed" alternative that I can get at Supercheap/Repco/Auto 1/Bursons?

Penrite Progear 75W90 PRO GEAR 75W-90 (Full Syn.) | Penrite Oil (https://www.penriteoil.com.au/products.php?id_categ=4&id_products=376) Supercheap and Repco will stick it.

Castrol's website shows Castrol Syntrax Longlife 75W-90 is the replacement for the SAF-XO

That's what I've just put in mine front and rear (no E-diff for me so this does both) - excellent stuff.

I also just put in the Royal Purple Synchromax into the Transfer case and no issues so far. Been about ~60,000km since the last Transfer Case oil change.

Take your pick.

Shane used Pro Gear and experienced elevated Fe levels but that can happen when a new oil/add package is introduced.
It will tend to displace the old sulphur/phos additive package along with I'm guessing bits of asperites.
In not sure if he dumped it or continued to measure a trend as generally the Fe levels drop and taper off in that situation.

Cant recall at what point I mentioned on the forum regard the FE levels. But I've so far had 3 samples on both the front and rear with a change in the middle. Last samples where improved compared to the first sample which was around half the kms. Using the progear still and haven't changed oil brand/type. Next sample will be more of a comparison with the first as the kms on the oil will be similar

A little knowledgeable bird on here did think that Rock Oil TF870 is the same as IYK500010, 'special transfer case fluid.'

But to save $40 every couple of years in using another product, in my view the 'special transfer case fluid' is the way to go.

As an FYI, Supercheap have 20% off today so race in and grab some diff oil. I just did and nabbed some Penrite Pro Gear fully synth GL5 for $20/l.
