View Full Version : Running boards / side steps removal - any issues?

I bent my running boards little last weekend. One lost its trim (which I have kept).
I can't see a need for them - most of the time they're in my way getting in and out of the car in carparks and such. And I haven't found a need offroad.

I'm thinking I'm going to take them off and see how I feel about leaving them off, or replacing them with rocksliders at some point.

Once removed, I plan on putting most, if not all, the screws and bolts back in place to keep dirt out and to prevent any possible corrosion while I make up my mind.

Sound plan? Have I missed anything?

When you do decide what you want to do, APT sliders are neat and not overly protruding. They also offer a tread plate now. I brought them with the rest of the protection in June, and they have been called into action twice, once on the Canning and once on the beach near Dundee in the form of a log under the sand.

Cheers, yes, I've been reading the other threads about both APT and GOE's. I also need a compressor plate, and that will be part of it.
Then there's the RAI ... and the compo's ... and the tyres ... and the drawers ... maybe a bullbar ... :-)

On and on and on and on it goes.. usually only stops when your pocket stops!

But seriously, they are a great neat replacement and you won't even notice they are there.
