View Full Version : 2nd Battery in 2018 TDV6 Engine Bay

Has anyone installed a second battery on the driver's side in the space where there is no second air filter? An advantage of TDV6.

I would prefer an Optima yellow top but it would be a very tight fit!

I am also thinking of an onboard air-compressor located behind the driver's side front suspension unit. Also very tight!

Any comments would be appreciated.

A friend of mine had a second(actually third!) battery installed behind panel left side of boot area. But that was in a 2014 model... things maybe different now.

Thanks "discojools".

I think I maybe on the right track with an installation on the driver's side of the boot area.

There appears to be a battery support frame already set up. Currently there is a large electronic component located in this location so will investigate a possible relocation.

Will advise in due course.

There is probably a small second battery there already. It is used to power accessories when the stop start is operational.
You can fit a yellow top (55AH) in that space.
But will need a suitable bracket and bolts. In colder countries they use a larger battery and you can get genuine bolts and bracket to suit.

If you want to fit a larger battery (100AH) Osborne Park Autospark make a larger tray for the LHS of the load bay It costs more than $300.

I’ve just used Autospark Osborne Park to fit a 2nd (3rd if you include the small Stop Start) on the drivers side rear of a L405; recommend them - and their work, which as mentioned includes a battery tray for LHS rear of the L494 (go to their Facebook site) cheers

Hello Kalasport
My suggestion is certainly coming very late. But here is what I did in my MY17 RRS L494. That location is perfect for a compressor, just below 12v supply (see picture). And yes there is space enough to install an additional battery behind the right and/or left boot panels.
