View Full Version : Vacuum advance pipe routing

Hi guys,

I am renewing the vacuum advance hard line from the carby to the distributor with new 1/8 pipe and olive, etc.

At the risk of sounding a bit river counter…

Does anyone have any good pics or descriptor of the routing of the pipe and any related clamp/s? My old line has the clamp bracket floating loose but I don’t know where to clamp it? REMLR reference pics seem to show it clamped under a manifold stud? Clamp hole is too small though for the 5/16 stud.

Is there a second clamp at the back? It seems to float loose in an area where there multiple other items including the starter solenoid/cables and rear oil line, etc.

Appreciate any assistance.

Not sure on S2's but S1's attaches to one of the studs on the thermostat housing

On my 2A it runs around the rear of the engine like yours, but I did away with the metal line and fitted
some rubber vacuum hose, as I was concerned the metal (copper) tube would end up fracturing.
I have attached a couple of pics of how it was originally fitted before I replaced it with the rubber vacuum hose and
the third pic is of the rubber vacuum line.
There is a small tag that attaches the line to one of the manifold bolts, and on the rear of the head or engine block, there
may have been another tag that attaches to one of the bolts on the the bracket for lifting chain.

Cheers, Mick.

Hope these help.
Pic one shows it coming off the Dizzy and heading out behind the motor, then pic 2 shows it clamped to the manifold.

Maybe a "prune" first by the look of those pine needles ;)

I found the connections. Thanks very much gents.

Rear one hangs from lowest hole on the lifting bracket behind the head. I am running the pipe back via this bracket (1/4 bolt).

Would anyone have a spare clip for the manifold connection point (the one with a slight dog leg)?

Happy to pay postage, etc.

Appreciate it
