Plum wine made from our orchard fruit - just opened our first bottle since bottling a few weeks ago. Chilled, it's VERY drinkable for such a..uhmmm... "young" wine https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ It's very clear now - and all the clouding had dissappeared - a very nice rose colour.

Wow!!!! https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ Jeez... it's got a KICK

Ohhh! That's next for us.

We have 18 bottles of blood plum wine, 18 bottles of orchard plum wine, 18 bottles of peach wine, 18 bottles of pear wine. Added to that we have 30 750ml bottles of lager, 30 bottles of Cervesa (Mexicam brew), and 30 bottles of alcoholic ginger beer.

It's going to be a rather merry Easter up at Lightning Ridge!

PS: another 60 litres of apple, and apple and cinnamon wine are on the brew as well - but will be distilled into a stronger brew.

Cheers!!!

Haven't gone down the wine path yet. Been brewing beer for nigh on 20 years, and only tried the cider recently. If only you could put it in cans to take camping.

I like plumbs and that drop would taste very interesting.

How much of it do you bottle. :?:

18 bottles of orchard plum and 18 bottles of blood plum.

We've just knocked over two bottles tonight so that leaves 34 bottles standing on the wall https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Hi Omaroo
Sipping a cask red on ice.
My poison is homebrew beer.I run 3 kegs(19lt) and do a keg a week(with help I add hick,hick)
You mentioned you do an alcaholic ginger beer.Is it a bought kit or your own????Tried several bought kits but cant handle the "nutra sweet" artificial flavouring. The only kit I have found that gaurantees no artificial sweetners is the grumpy kit from SA,no suppliers over here so I may have to order direct.
If you have your own recipe I would love to try it.
We have our own fruit trees,a mate was doing his own wine from fruit but they all seemed too much like varying degrees of sherry. We used to make a very respectible, but explosive rhubarb champagne
Can pass on a recipe if you need one.

Rhubarb? What a great idea! I'd thank you wholeheartedly for the recipe! https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Well - no hang-over this morning to speak of. No preservatives - no problems!

Hi Omaroo
I will get the missus to dig the recipe up,its very easy and very refreshing. If you have a good Gingerbeer(no artificial sweetners) consider it a swap.
No probs if you dont have a suitable recipe,I will still pass it on.

Hi Omaroo
Rhubarb Champagne
1kg finely chopped rhubarb
750gm sugar
1.5tablespoons white vinegar
4.8L water
2 lemons juice and rind

Mix all of the above and leave if fermenter for 48hrs
Strain 3 times thru cloth

Bottle into PLASTIC PET(coke style) bottles
Ready in 2 weeks,aprox 8% alc.

WARNING DONT BOTTLE IN GLASS!!!!!!
The brew is still fermenting in the bottle, its adviseable to keep an eye on the PLASTIC bottles and release a bit of gas if they are getting very tight.
I gave a 2L bottle to my physio,a week later ours were getting uncomfortably tight,I warned her to release some gas from the bottle, she forgot. It blew up in a kitchen cupboard, the doors flew open covering the whole kitchen in rhubarb champagne 8O 8O 8O She had a bowl of salad on the bench for dinner at the time, the kids reckoned it was the best salad dressing they had ever tasted. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
Those PET bottles are rated to 120PSI!!!!!!
Also if there ends up too mutch gas in the bottle when you open it you get a geyser coming out the top.
ENJOY 8) 8) 8) 8)

Exploding home brew 8O

A mate stored a batch in his old man's cellar.

It ended up being an expensive brew

...a couple of bottles of Grange were included in the collateral damage

We used to make acholic ginger beer and put it in the old 2 ltr coke easy goer bottles, one year we had an overly gassy brew and when i opened it it took of like the shuttle and went about 50 metres down the backyard.
