Well, after a quick search on the forum, I'm not seeing anything about anyone who has had to replace the glass in their sunroof before.

I realise that it won't be a common thing, but I thought I'd document the chain of events for everyone so that this can be used as a reference in future.

Whilst trying to remove my roof racks today, and being in too much of a rush to go out the back and grab the step ladder, I climbed up on the roof of the disco to get a better view (I'm not the tallest bloke in the world). In climbing up, I slipped, and my whole body weight was resting on my knee, which in turn cracked the glass of the sunroof.

From the reading I have done elsewhere, this does seem to be a fairly involved job to replace the glass! Sounds like the whole interior roof lining has to be removed basically.

My insurance does include glass cover, which i believe covers sunroof as well, but am yet to speak with them. I'll give them a call tomorrow and get that ball rolling.

I'll keep you posted as things progress, but the moral of the story is this - GET THE STEP LADDER!!!

Bummer dude. I have no such luxuries, and instead a metal roof with a platform covering it which supports my weight. Hope the insurance company looks after you

Well after spending about an hour on the phone trying to sort everything out, AAMI will only allow me to get the car repaired through their centre. Car is booked in for next Tuesday to have the work done. Will keep updated!

They will then book it out to a specialist in my experience.
