Remote Global Close stopped working

Hi all

Bought a 2016 SDV6 HSE a few weeks ago & initially the remote global close feature worked fine but has since stopped working.

It does still work if I touch the door handle though & remote global open works.

I've read that some markets don't have global close using the remote but according to the spec sheet it should work in Aus (& it did before mysteriously stopping).

Anyone experienced this?

Anyone know how to fix?

Not sure if it applies, but ive owned a few VW's and whenever there was something wrong with Global Open/Close, I would have to recalibrate the windows by opening/closing the windows fully. Normally this happened if it was a dead battery or something.

So, after the latest trip to the dealer the response is that the feature is not available in Australia.

Bit strange that it worked initially but then stopped.

I've now contacted LR Global seeking an authoritative answer and will update.

Global closing of windows and locking of doors was definitely available on my 2014 SDV6 SE RRS,. Had to lock the car from the key and hold the lock button for a few seconds.

Yeah that's exactly how it's meant to work (& initially did)

Might just be a matter of a soft reset which involves disconnecting the batteries (there are two!) and leaving them disconnected for 30 mins. Have done it on my D4 and it certainly works to sort out any software issues. But I have never done it a new model RRS so I would check with somebody who knows.

I didn't know I had it on mine until I found out by accident ... I had the fob in my pocket, and lent over and squashed the fob for some time, I was in the room above the garage. later went to the car to find all the windows were down, was not sure what had happened until I RTFM.

"Naturally, it is disappointing to learn from your comments raised with your Range Rover Sport with the smart key feature.

We have confirmed with Land Rover Technical Engineers that this feature is not turned on for the Australia market. However, via the set up menu if ‘Global Close’ is ticket this will allow operation be done by holding the door handle only. This mean you cannot use this feature remotely via the smart key."

Was certain it worked when I first got the car.

Definitely worked on my 2014 L494. Will be interested to see if my MY19 L494 has this function when it finally arrives(uugghh)! They may have deleted this function over the years.

Surely can turn it back on without dealer getting involved, I have both the global opens and close option listed but none works.

Any further news on this?

Global Close from the keyfob is disabled in Australian delivered vehicles, it can be enabled in the Car Configuration File, if you have an appropriate diagnostic tool.

I can confirm using the GAP tool and changing the CCF item name “remote frequency remote global close permitted” to ENABLE will in fact enable global close from you remote for all windows and the sunroof.
