My daughter is about to purchase a MY15 TdV6 D4 with plenty of extras. The only thing she would like to do is have the SD upgrade/remap ? My wife and her drove a few and both could tell the SD was more powerful [bighmmm] Could we purchase a ECU from a SD write-off etc and replace the original ECU, I know I will have to change the engine security code settings; but is there anything else ? Otherwise we are looking at a remap.

I'm not sure, it will pro'ly have to be coded to the vehicles VIN. I know that when I had to have the D3's EAS ECU changed that it had to be coded and a new programme downloaded by the dealer. A GAP IID tool or similar might be able to do this. Hopefully someone more au fait will be along shortly to enlighten us.

I am no expert but isn't the SD model the twin turbo ? Not sure you could adapt it to a TDV6 single turbo without some major rewrite .

Hmmm - no - in the later D4s the TDV6 is the sequential turbo 3.0 in detuned form (155kw?) and the SDV6 is the sequential turbo 3.0 in the high state of tune (185kw?)

And I thought the difference between the two 3.0 engines was more than ECU tune - I think there are some material differences as well.

GarryNot to my knowledge Garry. Pistons etc are all the same for TDV6 vs SDV6. The only difference is ECU tune.

Thank God for Topix ! A check revealed that some listed options were not fitted; spoke to the dealer who agreed they were not fitted, he was very genuine and fixed the ad on Carsales. There is a lot of confusion by many posters on Carsales what options or option packs have been fitted. Have had a numbers of cars now wrongly optioned in ads. Anyway today she has purchased a low mileage 2011 HSE; so wont be needing the swap.
