Woke up to this little number this morning,, not happy.
No idea why,, it’s just there. Didn’t notice it as I walked passed as the car was covered in dew, but started driving and could hear something 😡

but there does not appear to be any jemmy scratch marks on the paint work. Probably faulty bonding.

This is really strange (especially if there's no damage to the surrounding duco)... I'll be very interested to see any outcome or explanation....

It only takes a well placed tap with a screwdriver on the exposed edge of a toughened screen to do this.
The edge is the weak point on toughened glass, which is why it *usually* has a trim or plastic strip to cover the edge.

I had a brand new Commodore wagon do that overnight , Dogs in the yard so wasn't a 3rd party
There was frost on the glass and I didn't notice it until I went to clear the frost off.

Sorry to hear it Chops. I remember reading about a spate of Defenders having the same issue (was a few years ago now). I don’t think that anyone ever worked out what was causing it..

Haha 😂 the stickers the easy bit,, I’ve got spares [thumbsupbig][wink11][tonguewink]
So, no idea at all as yet why it’s happened,, maybe when I have a new window fitted, they can tell me a story about it [bigwhistle]
So a man gets a second job to help out building up the coffers,, and the first weeks wages have just been well and truely shot to ****. New glass from LR at this point is between $1000 - $1300. I guess then there’s the fitting of it to come [bighmmm]
I haven’t spoken with either the insurance mob or a windscreen mob yet,, so will wait to hear what they have to say before I have hissy fit over it all [bigwhistle]

Bugger, that’s a ****... Like others have said, wonder how it happened.... Stick Sully in the car for the night - if anyone’s trying to break into it, he’ll sort them out. 👍
That, or he can come live with me - that’s a good option too... 😉😇
Oh, will be around Saturday morning picking up my I’ll gotten gains - will call you, not sure what shifts you’re working.

My D1a did that a few years ago. Parked on a rural property, backed up against the shed and I know that no-one got near it. Overnight it just completely shattered. The tint held it all together, thankfully. No signs of impact, nothing disturbed or out of place. Took a couple of goes to get the correct glass fitted. The first one had the high mount brake light mask upside down! Glad the insurance covered that whole debacle...
Had a windscreen on the old Volvo wagon crack for no reason, too. No rust or impact. Just suicide...
Anyway, tough luck right there. I think it's just one of those things that can happen randomly. If there's no starred propagation point (external impact or point load) then it's likely just internal stresses getting too much. Bugga.

Bloody arseholes,,
I had a Ute stolen many years ago, but as I’d just had the trans out, and hadn’t yet put the right amount of fluid back in, they didn’t in fact get very far, even though they had smashed the window and managed to drive off.
Had great delight and amusement when I told the cops 👮*♂️ there was blood everywhere [bigrolf] , coppers had a good laugh too [thumbsupbig]

Haha 🤣, yep, been there,, however, this time, because the window was so tinted (inside), I put plastic contact on the outside, I’m thinking I may get lucky 🍀 and not find any glass in this instance 😁.
As a side note 📝 , I went to get contact, I’m thinking, now if I go to a really really big quite well known stationary shop, I should be able to get exactly what I want.
Yeah,, nah,, years ago, Mums all over Australia 🇦🇺 used to go to the shop, get a roll of contact. You could not for the life of you damage the book after this crap was put on [bigwhistle]
You should see the **** you get these days,,, it’s as flimsy as the likes of “Glad wrap”. Very disappointing to say the least,, got no idea where you might buy the original stuff,, if at all.
