NOOOO!! not the mangoes. How much can a koala bear.
Heatwave destroys millions of dollars’ worth of mangoes - with one drought-stricken farmer losing 100 PER CENT of his plantation (https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/heatwave-destroys-millions-of-dollars’-worth-of-mangoes-with-one-drought-stricken-farmer-losing-100-per-cent-of-his-plantation/ar-BBQyWaY?ocid=spartandhp)

Mangoes - Ouch. Summer fruit coming in and very welcome here. I wonder how the 37+++ will hit the farms[bigwhistle]
Min of about 27-28 last night might have kept a few of us Coastal Vics tossing a bit. I note the Northern types had 29 over night with humidity I bet that toasts our puny efforts (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-12-06/qld-heatwave-moves-west-nt-records-broken/10591438) [biggrin]

The Bureau Of Meteorology (BOM) defines a heatwave as three or more days in a row in which both day and night temperatures are unusually high for that specific location.
LOL!
Couldn't possibly be more vague than this explanation!
Why is it that in the late 60's and early 70's, as a kid ... every day over summer felt like that!

Yeah, not sure why weather - be it hot, cold, windy or other is an ‘event’. I hate the term and will pull up anyone who uses it...

Definitely gonna be a busy one, worth getting a fire tank/pump.

This may make it clearer.

(http://www.bom.gov.au/places/sa/KHS2/)At this afternoon's press conference, Victoria's Emergency Management Commissioner, Andrew Crisp, revealed that over the past two days, Ambulance Victoria had responded to numerous calls about children being left in hot cars.
Mr Crisp said paramedics received 11 such calls yesterday and a further seven today.
"I just can't understand the behaviour where young children are left in vehicles," Mr Crisp said.
"I'm not sure how many times we need to keep telling people.
That people can treat their most valuable possessions like this is deplorable & they need a SCUD up their arses.

The sudden spike in temperature here in Melbourne has had an effect on my aquarium. Initially the higher temps got the metabolism rates for the little fish and shrimp up , but to an unsustainable level , and now they are starting to die off.
Coincidentally there was an article on the great die off millions of years back. The argument was something to do with rising sea temperatures and the resulting reduction in saturated oxygen in the water, with a die back of marine life. And the cycle continued with more and more extinctions.
At least my die back isn’t too catastrophic, the fish and shrimp are relatively cheap to replace !
