Gday
I'm wondering what set ups people have come up with to store fishing rods inside there vehicles.
I have attached a couple of stainless spring clips to hold 1 rod on each side, hopefully pics show what I'm talking about.i have a short rod wedged up between flip down head rests and roof aa well. I want to get my other bigger snapper rod up off cargo floor but im a bit unsure how to proceed, I was thinking of a piece of ply attached to inside somehow and then attach rods to that.Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181208/f8957a25a8eb971d5a25d535c4599e33.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181208/69adcab32625a845fa00119e56835cf1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181208/51138470234111770e4a8eabf3f5cb01.jpg

Looks good mate. Does the job for short rods, I prefer for long rods the rod rack off the bullbar to the roof rack. Just a matter of choice, but you've done well.

I like that setup[thumbsupbig]
I being a basically lazy bugger just chuck the rods in the back and put the tips of the rods between the front seats.

I have carried rods all over aust, never damaged one. I always demount the reels and carried the rods in pvc pipes with screw on caps, had various diameters and lengths. always put a piece of foam in before capping them. Some of my rods were custom rods and worth (well at least cost) as much as some of my vehicles

In my van I had rods mounted down the centre of the roof inside. At the back I had a small piece of timber with holes big enough for the handles, then at the front I had some roller catches on a mount to hold the tip end up. Worked a treat, I'd wrap an ocky strap around all the handles to hold them together and stop them sliding. Some roller catches you can bend open a little if you don't wanna scratch your rod.
Cost all of $3 and I could carry 6 rods, easy to make in a van.
Cheers Jim

Thanks for replies, the PVC tubing was a thought but then it's a box for reels somewhere, I'm a lazy bugger and like them there ready to go so to speak, if wife and go out somewhere and we end up near water least I can have a fish and Michelle can read, also once packed for travelling the rods are out of the way and easily accessible, trying to work out how to mount last 9 foot 2 piece rod, so maybe the PVC tubing but I will continue to ponder and look around. I did see on you tube a guy using 2 oky straps twisted together but I reckon that would bounce and rattle against roof maybe.
The wood with holes would be ok, how would that be attached to inside of d2 I wonder, or make up brackets off rear seat belt holders.

Never a dull moment being human [emoji106]I should have added I'm not fussed about covering the 2 back windows with ply oe similar, I have the HF radio main unit mounted on a home made shelf on right hand side and use a cut sun visor to keep sun off etc, left has fallen down probly should tint windows one day .
