need a lesson in utter frustration ?

need to test your patience ?

I have the perfect solution....

the myGov website and linking accounts so you can actually do something that used to be so simple.

I already have a few things linked like my tax etc etc

but have been trying to get Medicare linked

answered all the questions, I know the answers are correct but, linking fails every time.

so ring the number provided, wait the required time, speak to a very nice gentleman from the medicare help line and find that after all these years of living at the same place (33 in fact) that medicare haven't got it listed :p

so if you go to myGov and need to link your medicare account and it doesn't work...

save yourself a buckled of frustration and time and ring the medicare helpline and make sure they actually have your residential address in their database otherwise nothing you try on the myGov site will work as expected.

off to try it now that I have been told it should now work as expected...

apparently it is a very common problem.

and then

it still doesn't work!

no more time today, guess I'll have to play the game again tomorrow.

joy oh joy...

Maybe you could tender to provide them with IT services. The website may then actually work, wouldn't that be novel.

Hmm I feel your pain but in this case you are obviously doing something wrong - to state the obvious - it is not the sight.

The myGov site after years of being a pain in the ass has finally got itsself sorted. I have been using the etax section and was difficult to use but over the past few years worked well.

About 6 months ago my doctor decided not to do medicare refunds through his process so to get it now I have to use the myGov site.

It took me about 5 minutes to link a Medicare account into my MyGov account and all went as it was supposed too. I have had no problems claiming, it is just a pain scanning docs etc - so still a bit dirty on my doc but that is how it goes.

So for me the process of setting up the medicare side of myGov worked fine but I can understand others having possible issues. If you ring, you need to do it right on 9.00am proper time before all the dole bludgers wake up and clog the government systems.

Good luck - you will need it.

I found it easy to use except if you want to log in to a different account ie your partner/wife on the same pc then its a ball ache.

Updating my assets on Centrelink (I go in via MyGov) is often an exercise in frustration. One updates the info and then tries to save it only to be told the system is unavailable at this time.

Over and over again, day after day.

tsk tsk don't you people realise we have among the best, most user friendly and most secure government websites and apps in the world?
I know because they told me so.

Yep I have so much confidence I opted out of my health record :)

Bit like dealing with Telstra twp weeks in a row they have sent me a text to say they will be ringing me in 15 min. to give me an update on a complaint I have with then ,two weeks they havenot rang ( had no missed calls then next day receive a email next day to say they tried to call but i did not be contacted . The 1st week they said they called on a phone number that was not mine & not connected to our account but they can send the text to the correct number.
As for Centerlink I have never been able to contact them on line as every password they give me never works , they are waisted space as far as I am conserned.

It all works for me , Perhaps if they share the same call centre with the ATO (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-12-10/ato-contractor-has-a-history-of-bankruptcy-and-tax-minimisation/10595884'section=business) you might be in trouble

I did make the mistake of going to a Medicare office. Its now part of unemployment and pensions..... The line to get into any line was huge. After an hour I was the only person in the cue for the medicare office. [bighmmm][bighmmm][bighmmm] The medicare person was waiting doing little to nothing at that counter for the entire hour!

Good luck. IT and Government is not not a good mix. The Medical bit is a great example. My Great and powerful "My health record" is a largely analog or PDF based system[bawl]

That is the worst! You need to go in after 12 when all the derros have come and gone and are back at home drinking.
Same with vic roads waiting in line to get in line....always the way.

Next door neighbours applied to build a carport, Council replied no house existed on that land.Turns out, all paper records were stored in a basement in town, and were wiped out in the big Brisbane floods. It happens.

Last week I went to Caboolture transport dept, to register a new camper trailer. Thursday lunch time. Breezed thru, couldn't believe it, what they have done is separate new registrations from other business. Inspection and rego done within the hour. Not only that, I left my paperwork needed for insurance at the transport office, they rang me and posted it to me , free of charge. And the people there were polite, and helpful.

It happens.Agreed. I renewed my licence recently. The transport office people at Woodridge were very helpful and efficient. Excellent public servants.

When we bought our Maleny house a legal search found the Sunshine Coast Council did not hold any records of what's inside the building, as the records disappeared during an amalgamation.
Quite accidentally we later acquired the original plans of the house from a previous owner.
So we know more about the house than the council. Very useful during renovations.

Best to go to a Centrewank office after 2.00 pm. Full staff on duty as all have now had lunch. The benos who have to lodge unemployment forms in person are told to get them in before noon if they wish to be paid in that night's run and have money next day. Later lodgements could miss that days overnight run and not be paid until the following day. After 2.00 pm there are not that many clients still hanging around. One way to get action is to write a short letter to the Regional Manager asking for an appointment to see a XXXXXX officer, copy to your local MHR and to the minister's office.
