Keep the name. Its a Defender still, and just like the previous versions of the Defender, it wasn't all that different to the other Landys of the time in the driveline and chassis and so will be the case with the new one.
We need to come to terms with the fact that all of these vehicles have to evolve and the only one that hasn't really been evolving in the last 30 years has been the Defender which is a part of the reason why it doesnt sell in volvumes, it has missed a generation or 3 of notable design updates and it is now about to come up to date - its not so different between the old and new Discovery and the old and new Range Rover. The Defender is as differentiated across the marque as any of LandRovers other current products.

The good wife and I have contributed to the poll over time but, this year, after her mid year retirement, we haven't listened to the J's too much, let alone any audio/video media as we have been doing a fair bit of walkabout.
Might have to catch up on things.

Ah, so we have a few more closet J’s fans here! Good to know.
Ive been listening to the J’s since Maynard took over the reigns of Breakfast back in the 80’s.
Geez, so many breaky presenters since then. Razer & Robins, Adam & Will, Jay & the Doc, Robbie, Marieke & the Doc, Tom & Alex, Ben & Liam...
Wonder if I missed anyone?
Still remember Maynard calling Angela Catterns - who did mornings - ‘Angular Curtains’...

I have missed JJJ a lot of the time with kids in my Disco. Naughty word warnings are a good but not perfect [biggrin] Hear and See a lot of the old crew "Razer and Robins" A lot less of Mikey to be seen as he has wasted away to a slim trim comic version of his former self.

A golden ticket for voting. How very Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (https://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/18/get-inspired/golden-ticket/)

I liked Maynard when he got hold of a Las Vegas phone directory and rang Frank and Nancy Sinatra. Not THE Frank and Nancy, just a random Frank and Nancy Sinatra. Quite hilarious. He used to ring them up quite often for a chat!

I gave up on them years back , when they walked out and looped some horrid hip hop track for hours on end. From then on , I try and find the community stations . Currently find RRR and PBS more relevant to my music tastes.
Still consider your choices wisely!

Yep for a while there hip hop was getting way too much airplay. I love some of it like the Hilltop Hoods but a lot is just rubbish. Still plenty of great Australian music coming through.

Have to agree to disagree there. Most commercial stations play the teenybopper top 40 crap. The J’s are still the only station that plays the stuff the others don’t. Indy, up and comers, heaps of Aussie music - completely different to all others. 👍

Er not sure it full teenybopper music......although I’m music illiterate
The only small criticism I have is they maybe play a few artist a little too much (excluding gang of youths)........other than that I enjoy the variety and really enjoy interviews with the artist.
I reckon the work they do promoting the unearth artist of the week and album of the week where the artist introduces each track is awesome along with unearth high are great initiatives.......don’t reckon any other radio station gives the opportunities the j’s give.
The hottest 100 it the biggest listener poll worldwide.....I can recall two international artists commenting they wish they had something similar in the own country.
I do wish the J awards, is that what it’s call had listener input.
Oh I’ve only convert about 4 years ago.
I do recall way back when the went national they asked everybody to jump to try an register on the earthquake Richter scale. Yep I jumped.

No right or wrong with music. Been playing s wide mixture of records today . From the fall to old ska and rnb to psych and punk. Not too sure if it is a good thing to have a mate who owns a record store and heavily involved in all aspects of the live scene.

Have 3 so far, I’ve never been great at picking the most popular, but I did vote for Confidence by Ocean Alley and Tell the all I said Hi by Amy Shark - which I’m sure are still to come. Thought the Wombats would be higher with Cheetah Tongue as well. Good to see the Hilltop Hoods getting yet another one in the 100 - wonder how many that is all up over the years now?

Yep, some people struggle when they ask me what I like to listen to and I say ‘Anything but Country and Western’. I listen to Classical through to Thrash Metal and everything in between. Just depends what mood I’m in. 👍

When I grew up listening to the radio it was top ten,
Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, Small Faces, The Byrds, Procol Harum, Bowie,Cream, Led Zeppelin et. al.
Then there was Captain Beefheart, Yardbirds, ………..
I guess times have changed !
Glad I grew up in the sixties.

** generally speaking, I can't bear any announcers, especially if there is more than one on a radio programme.

My play play lists on Spotify are generally the latest indie releases.
Which becomes frustrating when you Shazam a song to download and find out it actually hasn't been released yet!
A friend put me on to Ocean Alley, probably her favourite band atm and who are playing Blues Fest this year.
