Well kids, the time has come [thumbsupbig]

As a few know, our game plan is to travel around Aus doing some work here and there, with some exploring on the way and seeing our gorgeous country, hopefully, finding somewhere we can eventually settle down at, (a few acres).
We were supposed to leave last July, be in Townsville to attend a wedding in August, and then head off from there to "who knows where" after the wedding.
As happens in life, plans change or get changed/upset and we have to try again. (somehow this has been happening since I was first meant to leave at the ripe old age of 45,, I'm now 56 [bighmmm]) So, due to these changes, we went looking for some extra work to do on weekends, build up the coin, and generally sort a few things out so we can have another bash at leaving around Easter-ish, 2019.

So, as I stood there packing stuff the other weekend, making some good coin I might add, someone happened to read my resume, and I then received a call asking to have an interview,,, Ultimately, they made me an offer I really couldn't refuse [biggrin]
So, back in a management roll I go, and our trip we start. My work week is actually the weekend, so good money.
We're cheating a bit, dont need the van as we've rented a small house next door to the factory we'll be working at, which we always knew would be on the cards, and as its basically a year long contract (sort of,, a bit complicated to explain here), a house is the best bet.

We'll be based in the small town of Tangambalanga (Vic) in the beautiful Kiewa Valley, and looking forward to catching up with a few people in the area we know already, and hopefully meet some we don't know. Some of you may wish to pass through the area, there's plenty to see, and the Hume Weir has many camping spots,, so let us know if your coming through.[thumbsupbig]

Just a quick thank you to all who have made us feel welcomed here in Melbourne, we've had some great times, and made good friends whom we hope to keep in touch with even during our travels. Face Book will certainly help with communication [thumbsupbig],

Now for the move. I finish my current job next Thursday,,, start my new job Friday morning,, and attempting to move house through the weeks following,,, anyone got a large trailer they can lend me? [bighmmm]

Keiwa Valley is a beautiful & unspoilt part of the country, once you've settled in there you probably wont be hankering to travel so much now that your out of the big smoke.

We had enough of that **** & left to tour the country & ended up in Yarrawonga with no intention at all of stopping, get cabin fever now & again but go for a walk along the water or a blast in the Landy & everything is good.

All the best mate, really happy for you guys to be getting out of the rat race here. Hopefully I can do the same soon. Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when you told your current Boss... [biggrin]

Surprised they're hiring in Tangambalaga, since the milk factory closed.

I stand corrected. Is it still owned by Murray Goulburn? I thought they were going to transport all the milk to the Goulburn Valley for processing.

Cheers,
Mick.

Mick, Saputo as far as I know owns it, as in the whole site, and the milk side of things, but it's still referred to as MG, and Danone (French owned yogurt company) rent/lease a portion of the factory site to make the yogurt ( a rather tight squeeze I must say).

I'm not sure exactly what products are made there, but I do know Devondale Long Life is made there, and I'm guessing a few other products. I'll let you know after I've settled in a bit.

Tandem, 2t bout 1.7 wide and 3ish long high sides and 2 sections with a cross bar on the back so you can put things like bedframes on the top.

Good on ya Marcus. Can’t say I’ve ever been through Tanbamgalaga but it’s certainly in a beautiful part of the world. Very jealous really as I’m trying work out a way to move down that way myself. Good luck with the move and hope it all works out for you.

Cheers,
Jon

In my younger days while posted to Bandiana we use to drink at the local pub a lot it was a great alterative to the pubs in Wodonga and Albury and the army was always welcome I had forgotten all about this little town thanks for rekindling my menorys of my time spent in that area In march i am off to Tassie I will try and make it yet another place to visit again on my way home.

Good on ya Marcus.
Sounds like a great place to pitch the tent for a while.
I hope you gave your new boss the dates you need off for LR related weekends etc. ;)
Look forward to a catch up at Corowa and then again at Melrose. ;)

Cheers, Mick.

A "BLAST" in an electric Landy.
That sounds frightening ;)

Haha, yep. Its not quite what was envisioned/planned, both time wise and "position" wise, but anyway, we're on the move.
Welcome any time Dave.
