Hi all, I recently purchased a 2014 discovery and after reading posts on this great forum decided to purchase extension rods from Green Oval in Perth for a trip to Fraser Island next week. That was 2 months ago.
I am yet to receive the rods and have had no reply to recent emails or phone calls (they haven’t answered once despite numerous attempts) to get an update on my shipment.
Does anyone know if GOE are still in business or has something else happened that has put them out of action and unable to use phone or email?
Thanks
Nick

There has been a number of threads on this, and I'm in the same boat. They retuned my email when I queried a few weeks ago, saying they would be shipped that week. Still haven't got the rods, and are now not replying. Any bet this thread will be taken down. People need to know though so we don't keep buying!!

I’m sure Graeme can sort you out with a set of his in time for fraser.....don’t want to be staring on ‘I got bogged st inskip’ and maybe ask for a refund from GOE.

Yeah, I can deal with delays but they need to communicate what’s happening. Now I just want to cancel the order but I can’t even do that and who knows if they’ll refund the money.
Guess I’ll contact consumer affairs and start the process...

That’s right Weeds, bad time of year to be heading to Fraser without lift. Then again if we could do it in a 1982 Subaru sports wagon I’m sure we’ll be fine in a disco without rods...would have been nice though

There are perhaps 2 things you should know.

1 Basically, you're not Robinson Crusoe.
2 The public forum is not the place to sort it out.

Ask for help on what others have done in your position by all means but request it only be carried out by private message otherwise you risk having your thread locked or deleted.

Why not just press the up button and stay within the speed limitations of extended height? Rod aren’t necessary, but a nice to have - at least in my opinion anyway. I don’t see it ruining your holiday, but maybe your back pocket.

Threads only get removed if rules are broken. People need to do better research before purchasing.

I only needed extended height in a few places on Fraser, Moreton and Straddie eg some inland tracks and some entries onto the beach. You will be perfectly ok without rods.

Llams would be a nice to have to keep at extended height over 40kmh.

Thanks all for the advice, I’m sure will be fine without the rods, first world problem....
Have requested a refund from GOE, let you know how that goes (and how long that takes).
cheers

A bit hard to do the research when someone talks of ill dealings with a business and the thread gets hammered .
I understand why the forum does what it does but in all fairness it is not totally a newbies fault if all they read on here is good reports :wallbash:
Obviously not enough research [bigwhistle].

There have been a few vendors on here over the years that have taken advantage of a few myself being one and i know a couple of those still operate here but anyone step over the line and :rocket:

The forum in my opinion should not be seen as the protector of these scum how they do that is not up to me to suggest but it sure does not help those trying to research [wink11].

He is a Newbie so im guessing he is unaware of the BS that has gone on over this in the past or how to use the forum properly [wink11].
Its a pity people are still being done over by this crap and im sure it will continue to happen:soapbox:

Chris, you clearly have strong views and that's fine but everyone must abide by the rules and you are getting close with your post.
If you don't like the way the forum is run take it up with the management/ownership team in a direct & hopefully constructive way rather than chipping via threads like this.

Regarding threads getting hammered and/or only positive threads existing, even a cursory search will find threads that clearly are not all positive on the subject at hand.
In fact, one of these existing threads is actually linked in this very thread (see post # 7) and if I searched I know I could find a few more.
If someone can find positive threads someone can find less than positive threads too.
Searching is not hard (Google search with forum domain bottom of every page) and the forum does not support or condone anything.

Regards,
Scott

[emoji41][emoji41][emoji7][emoji7] 700Nm and 250Kw will help Pete...[emoji1]

[emoji106] the torque curve makes it pretty effortless. The motor’s going better than ever after a CEM engine flush.

50kph = the gong and message goes off at 40kph but the car does not drop until 50kph.

Spot on. Just slow the **** down. If you are travelling at that speed then you probably don’t need the height which is why the system works as it does.

I cannot think of many places on Fraser where you will need the extra height and be traveling faster than 50km/hr

I only needed Llams once when I went over some rocks on the beach to avoid sea water as was travelling too late after low tide (llams might have paid for itself as did a little damage). The extra height would have helped with approach angle when coming down off some rocks on the beach. The extra extended height function automatically activated when I bottomed out on the bumper.

Or I could have got off the beach earlier like I was supposed to. [emoji15]

You should seek competent legal advice if you are dissatisfied with the service you are or are not receiving from that or any other provider of goods etc
