Hi there, just wondering if anyone has tried one of these items as a replacement for the Sat Nav screen/system on a D3?
https://unique-ad.co.uk/product/discovery-3-range-rover-sport-android-navigation-with-carplay-and-android-auto/
Looks like it replaces the screen but has all the newer features that a product like this should have.
I feel like this could be a nicer way than just buying a double din unit and replacing the old stereo panel, it keeps the car looking standard rather than replacing the original setero panel. Although its probably more expensive than a double din unit with the same features?

Not sure about Australia suitability, but these are other options (expensive)

All they have done is to take a $150 android unit off ebay and put a fascia on it to fit the dash and then piggy backed the factory stereo.

The ones I have looked into disable many of the standard features such as the off road 4x4 display and the DVD based Nav system & voice command.
You also lose the amplifier & CD head unit player, apprantly they use new amp.
The one in original post above may be different.
Perhaps LR allowed them access to the CANBUS serial device address codes. The one I enquired about they had to use address from existing device such as the head unit and could not add addtional devices to the CANBUS.

Have a look at this thread too:
DAB+ Digital Radio for 2005-2009 L322 (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l322-range-rover/264183-dab-digital-radio-2005-2009-l322.html)
and make sure you have a chat with Cambo, he'll point you exactly in the direction you need to go.

seems to be still in the tweaking stage but looks to have a lot of potential.

If you just want GPS put a Garmin in the cubby hole.

Thanks for all the advice here guys. I'll keep doing my research and update you once I have found a solution.
Im mainly interested in having phone connectivity, bluetooth streaming, maps from my phone. Ive only just got a 2005 HSE so Im not really sure how useful the extra 4x4 info the current unit has is? Is that something I should be trying to keep at all costs?

Where did you run the power supply?
At the moment to the power socket at the rear of the center console - later I might run it out back of the cubby.
