Hi all, doing the oil change on my V6 petrol LR3 and noticed the engine oil "pipe" in the engine bay is quite brown. See photo. The oil itself is also relatively brown. See photo. What could this mean? Thanks for any advice and opinion and a safe and happy break to all!

I'm no expert but it would appear to be water contamination. Only way to really tell I suppose is get it tested properly.
Good luck.

the colour of the oil on the paper looks fairly normal for well used petrol engine oil to me. Is that first photo looking down the engine oil filler point?

Me too. Looks fairly normal. No soot in petrol oil, so it never goes black unless it's well past its use by date.

Bugger! I completely forgot it is a petrol. :) My comment was for diesel with water contamination.

As already mentioned, petrol engines are not particularly hard on oil and in general terms the oil will remain cleaner between oil changes.
A clear brown colour is normal.

I've avoided adding to this as everyone has covered it except to add what a wise oil analyst said to me once
"Colour means nothing"
