Cruise control not working

I hooked up a trailer with my D5 for the first time two weeks ago. Sine then I’ve had 3 consistent faults:
- the engine takes two presses of the start button to start (first press just initiates the accessories, as if it doesn’t recognise my foot is on the brake pedal);
- engine auto off/on hasn’t kicked in since then;
- cruise control won’t work (amber alert when I try and set it - “Cruise Not Available”).
None of these features has worked since then, with the exception of the cruise control which worked on one single trip.
I’m thinking the connection between these three is the brakes - the car doesn’t seem to recognise the brakes in some circumstances (but they actually work with no problem).
The car is currently at the dealer. They are working on it, but don’t seem to know what it could be.
The engine was off (as always) when I plugged in the trailer electrics, and the trailer works fine with my D4, although in this circumstance I was also using a round 7 socket to flat 7 plug adapter (brand new). My understanding is that you can plug a flat 7 plug into a flat 12 socket, so I don’t imagine that’s the problem).
Any ideas? Faulty sensor?

It will be something to do with the brake light switch.
Do you have a brake controller fitted and if so, is the brake controller plug wiring correct for the D5?

Turns out you are correct. I was driving for two weeks with no brake lights!!
Brake controller was fitted by Land Rover dealer. But I have been a bit concerned about towing with it again, in case the same thing happens. I’ll get the tow pro wiring checked by an auto electrician. It wouldn’t be the first time the dealer mucked up wiring a brake controller for me. As I recall I had no rear lights at all when they did my D4 9 years ago.

What was done to get the brake lights working again?

There is a socket for the electric brake controller just above the brake pedal although IIRC the after-market plug needs to have 1 wire relocated. There's a thread on brake controller fitting for L494 RRS and the L462 D5.

They just changed a fuse. They didn't have a spare one, so they pulled it out of a new car on the lot. Of course, after reading all of the above, I now realise that it will probably blow again the moment I try and tow unless I get the brake controller wiring checked. Same dealer has mucked up wiring brake controllers on my two previous LRs (D3 and D4), so it's not really surprising. Unfortunately they are 140km away, so I'll probably take it to an auto electrician to check.
I'll check out the thread you've mentioned, and snap screenshots for the auto electrician.

Not sure where you are located in Melbourne, or which dealer you used, but the Auto Elec that Berwick used did a fantastic job with The Tow Pro Elite & requested to speak to me before he did it to check position of the control & whether I needed any other extras done while he was there. He is mobile, so does the work at the dealership.

I have his number. Mick 0438 365 320. Again, my dealership was Berwick.
