which diesel to buy

am in the market to buy a disco 95-2000.
must be a diesel.
can anyone tell me which yr[s] are the better than the bad yrs.
I've heard that the isuzu engines aren't that crash hot in some of them.

No isuzu engines in discos at all, only the stage one, and 110's.

For those yours you will be looking at a 300TDi or a modern TD5

Try to avoid a 1999 SII if you can, they have plastic head dowels. A 1998 300TDI S1 will be the most sorted, but the SII goes lots better and is more comfortable IMHO.
