Hmmm, the Engel would fit under the bonnet. In fact you could make the whole area up front a fridge... [biggrin]

Do we know what sort of price point they are aiming at yet?

US $72,500 . for the Rivian

Bollinger B1 is US$60,000 for the 60kwh model or $68,000 for the 100kwh model . Battery prices are falling though.

article on the B1 here

So still both well over $100K here. Well maybe I can buy a used one in about 20 years... [bigsad]

I keep hearing battery prices are falling, but all EV's are still way out of the average punters price range still - even the new Hyundai Ioniq is $20K more than it's ICE equivalent and around $45K (plus $2K if you want a hardwired 7KW charger in your garage) and this is 'Australia's cheapest EV'. That's still more than I've ever spent or could afford for a vehicle - and as pointed out by more than one person, they are doing away with an engine and gearbox, so batteries must still be very expensive - they would need to come down in price by orders of magnitude I think - here's hoping...

Better start saving for the electric version of the new Defender.

They used two prototype Rivians as support vehicles in the Long Way Up series last year. They got a fair bit of use in a wide variety of terrain and landscapes and bot they and the electric Harley's suffered from decreased battery capacity in very cold temperatures. Interesting to see them towing one of the Rivians with a truck to recharge the batteries with the regen at one stage where no charging was available.

Yes it was impressive considering the country they travelled through. Was also pretty impressive the amount of work did organising all the charge stations along the route.
